The story of Trigger unfolds somewhere in South Korea, where common people are randomly receiving suspicious boxes at their doorsteps. The biggest twist is that these packages contain guns and other forms of ammunition.

As expected, in a nation that abides by strict gun laws, anarchism starts spreading when the illegal arms become a normal thing and are easily available to anyone. Murders start increasing, and eventually the overall crime rate goes up.

In such a premise, a retired cop, going by the name Lee Do (Kim Nam-gil portrays) who feels the need to start his duty all over again to bring things under control. And amidst all the conundrums, his associate becomes a mysterious man named Moon Baek (South Korean star Kim Young Kwang). Baek comes to the rescue and helps Lee neutralize the situation.

However, things have already gotten quite out of hand. A gun-free country is raging (and wailing) because of easy access to deadly weapons. Not just action, Trigger is a story that also portrays intense psychological turmoil alongside persisting suspense all throughout.

People are trying to figure out who is delivering these 'unidentified packages'. Is there a single entity behind all this to create a Purge-like situation? Or is it a bigger move to disrupt an entire economy? Who is good and who is evil? Are there even sides?

Kim Nam-gil's Lee Do and Kim Young Kwang's Moon Baek have a lot of answers to find while trying to save as many lives as possible. Joining them (in some of the pivotal roles) will be the following well-recognized faces:

  • Park Hoon (known from Descendants of the Sun and Memories of the Alhambra)
  • Kim Won-hae (formerly known to be a part of SNL Korea)
  • Gil Hae-yeon (award-winning South Korean actress)
