The Witcher Season 4 has been in post-production this year, as the filming for the season was completed in October last year. Shooting has begun for Season 5 of the show as well. However, it seems that the initial days of the shoot that is currently in progress were not done for Season 5 - instead, certain portions of Season 4 were being reshot.

Filming for Season 5 of The Witcher commenced earlier this year in February in Cape Town, South Africa. The primary focus for this shoot was on the character of Ciri, played by Freya Allan.

While the common assumption among the audience was that this shoot was entirely for Season 5 of the show, it turns out the assumption was wrong. Some of the initial parts were actually scenes that were being reshot for Season 4.

The ending of Season 4 and the beginning of Season 5 of The Witcher were both directed by Jeremy Webb

Director Jeremy Webb is responsible for the first block of Season 5 of The Witcher. Incidentally, the popular director is also in charge of the final block for Season 4. Therefore, what seemed to be the shooting for the first block of Season 5 in Cape Town, South Africa, was actually the reshoot of several scenes for Season 4.

The Witcher Season 5 shares a few sets with The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale spinoff, especially the sets and environments used for the town of Ebbing. In the Rats spinoff, the Rats were meant to be in a heist, before meeting Ciri, where they would rob Dominic Houvenaghel, the powerful crime lord who is seen in the original series as well.

In the storyline, Ciri is captured in Ebbing, Houvenaghel's town, and is thrown into a fighting pit owned by the crime lord.

It seems that this point is where Season 4 of the show will end, and Season 5 will pick things up from here. While the reshoots may have fans thinking that the ending of the season might be different, the short span of the shoot time seems to indicate that Ciri will still meet the same fate. However, the shoot is simply taking place in Cape Town instead. However, there is no confirmed update about what changes to the storyline these reshoots will bring.

Moreover, Season 4 of The Witcher is already in post-production, and the creators are aiming for a 2025 release. However, it remains to be seen whether the reshoots will result in any delay in terms of release.
