The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon's newest season is moving quickly, and things are already looking positive for Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl's (Norman Reedus) reunion as Carol has finally reached France. Makers seem to realize their mistake, as the past season saw some unnecessary stretching with minimal progress in consecutive episodes.
In the second episode, 'Moulin Rouge,' Carol arrives in France after a bizarre episode in Greenland, which we will get to in a minute. But since she is already in France, we might see her reuniting with Daryl in the upcoming episodes.
Although Carol and Daryl have not yet reunited in the series, the show is focusing on other relationships as they make their way to one another. This episode explored the Carol and Ash (Manish Dayal) plotline, and their episode in Greenland was the episode's highlight. Carol's detour for fuel in Greenland with her new partner/pilot Ash was nothing but ordinary. They encountered some marshy walkers, which gave the team a new set of walkers to work with.
Carol and Ash's Greenland adventure in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
Carol's journey to find Daryl might have become too ordinary if not for her Greenland side quest with Ash. They encounter marshy walkers in Greenland but are luckily saved by some scientists. God hail those scientists, you must think, right? Just when you think they are the debutant heroes of this episode, they seem to show their ulterior motives. It looks like the two scientists, Eun and Hannah, wanted to mate with Ash to repopulate Humankind.
''We didn’t want to just have Carol pop into France and make things too easy. And we knew that the plane really couldn’t go direct. It was gonna have to make a stop somewhere. '' said David Zabel, producer and writer of the show.
Only when Hanna killed Eun instead of Carol did things finally get back on track for Carol and Ash? Nevertheless, Ash shoots Hanna in the neck with his flare gun without realizing that she has helped the pair.
Carol and Ash's strong team in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The side quest for their fuel made for an exciting episode and also gave the viewers a great team in Carol and Ash. As seen earlier, both of them have already bonded over being parents, though Ash has yet to learn all the secrets behind Carol's being one. The two still made a solid team to fight off the walkers and the scientists. Ash's courage shows his strong determination to survive, and he also kills to protect Carol, deepening their bond.
McBride and Dayal had fantastic chemistry that should be explored further in the show. Since Carol and Daryl are expected to be reunited soon, we don't know how much of the Carol and Ash plotline will be extended, but it was fun to see them fighting together.
