The Rainmaker Episode 9 recap: Rudy brings Jackie to take the stand
In the previous episode of The Rainmaker, Rudy discovered that Jackie was alive and away from Melvin after he found her in the hospital. In Episode 9, she became a witness and took the stand to reveal Melvin's truth to the court.
Rudy started with his opening statement in the court, but midway decided to change it when he revealed the murder plot that he had deduced in the case. The comments were found outrageous by Leo. He then brought Jackie to bring light to the case and reveal the truth about the serial killer.
However, Leo successfully stopped the court from using the USB data that Jackie had stolen, which had evidence of Melvin illegally using the medication dispensation machine. This makes their case weaker, but still, the judge gives them a chance to prove the murders and malpractice that happened in the hospital.
The Rainmaker Episode 9 recap: Rudy takes Bruiser's advice
Apart from Leo, in Episode 9 of The Rainmaker, Sarah becomes another hurdle in seeking justice in the case for Rudy. After Jackie's USB data becomes inadmissible, Deck and Rudy decide to approach the families of the other 15 patients that Melvin had killed in the hospital to widen their case. However, Sarah beats Rudy and has already silenced the families by approaching Amber, who was attacked by Melvin.
After another setback, Rudy does teh unthinkable- take advice from Bruiser. She tells him to put Jackie back on the stand and ask her about the Narpense machine. He does exactly that, and Jackie, after taking the stand as an expert witness, now reveals that the claims of the autodeletion of data from the machine were a lie and that it needs the senior executive's code to delete the data, which proves that Keeley's hospital did not delete, but rather destroyed the data.
This shifted the judge's attention to Leo, as it was proven that the hospital did something unethical, which also resulted in Jackie's USB data being used as evidence.
The Rainmaker Episode 9 recap: Sarah's cruel move and Lyman's gift to Bruiser
In the penultimate episode of The Rainmaker, while Rudy fights for justice, Sarah gets entangled in Leo's sinister play. While Jackie's testimony helps to submit her USB as evidence, Sarah takes her chance to drag the woman down to prove her to be mentally unstable.
She questions her about her personal life, talking about her relationships and character, and doing everything to paint her in a bad light. While Leo enjoys Sarah's cross-questioning, Brad's not. He confronts Leo about giving Sarah his position in the case and even threatens him. However, Leo has his ways of keeping Brad in check, as he has always tasked Brad to do his dirty work, and has pictures taken by Jane Allen to prove.
Furthermore, Dot's emotional testimony also failed due to Leo painting her son, Donny Ray, as a liar who might have also lied about his sobriety.
At the end of the episode of The Rainmaker, Bruiser finally learns that her father had not killed Rosalie, but that teh whistleblower died due to a misunderstanding. Further, before fleeing with Prince to evade the FBI, he left Melvin, tied and bound in Prince's basement, giving a chance to Rudy and Bruiser to bring justice.
