Popular medical drama The Pitt is nearing its finale episode of Season 1, which depicts a hectic 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.

In the penultimate episode of the drama, the doctors have finally gotten through the hardships of the PittFest shooting aftermath in the 14th hour, i.e., 8 p.m. of their shift. The news comes that the SWAT team has identified the shooter and no more victims will be arriving, giving the doctors a well-needed breather.

Elsewhere, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) has a breakdown after informing his son Jake that he could not save his girlfriend, Leah. In the previous episode, we saw Jake blaming him for not saving her, which leads to Jake having a breakdown until Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) helps him out. However, he is still struggling to keep calm.

Meanwhile, McKay gets arrested for messing with her ankle monitor, and a new patient might bring more bad news for the doctors and staff in their final hour.

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 recap: The final stretch of the PittFest crisis

After two hours of crisis mitigation, by helping numerous victims of the musical festival mass shooting incident, the trauma department is finally slowing down and letting friends and families meet their loved ones who are out of danger.

The team is also informed about the SWAT team recognizing the shooter, who is already dead, and the festival ground is also cleared, meaning no more patients would probably be coming.

One of the last patients happened to be a Navy medic who helped many victims in the festival, even after being shot in the leg himself. However, the navy medic, Ryan, experiences oxygen deprivation. He is visited by his sister, who tells him to fight and get better.

Dr. Abbott figures out that Ryan might have an embolism and asks Dr. Mohan to perform an unconventional method to remove air bubbles from his blood, which causes some conflicts between him and Dr. Walsh. Fortunately, they manage to bring Ryan’s vitals to normal.

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 recap: Dr. Robby is helped by Dr. Whitaker

In the last leg of the chaotic shift, everyone begins looking for Dr. Robby, as he is needed in the trauma department. Dr. Whitaker finds him in the morgue while looking for a blanket. As he is reciting the Shema prayer, Whitaker sits beside him for some time.

He later tells him that he is needed; they all need him, and he has to get up. He gives his hand to Robby to help him stand up. He later leaves with the blanket, not to embarrass Robby by displaying his vulnerability.

Although Robby gets back to work but his temper is far from composed as he yells at Gloria after she criticises him for using unscreened blood. Abbott asks Robby to calm down. Dan and Langdon realise that Robby might have informed Jake about Leah’s death. Dana goes and hugs a grieving Jake. Later, Langdon also talks to him, telling him that if Robby couldn’t save Leah, nobody could have saved her.

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 recap: A measles patient and his anti-vaxx mother cause Robby to lose it again

Although the shooting crisis has died down, the hospital gets a new scare as a measles patient arrives. Nobody initially knows what it is until Robby comes and tells them that it is measles, and they need to notify the public health care centre about a possible outbreak.

Robby figures out that the boy, Flynn, might have Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis, which has a death rate of 20%. They want to do a spinal tap to know more about it. However, his mother refuses it as she has read on Google that the procedure is harmful for kids. Robby lashes out at her and tells her that the procedure is safe and will not result in paralysis.

Elsewhere, Theresa finally talks to David and informs her that she wants him to get help as she does not want to lose him. However, David is angry at her and asks Theresa, Robby, and McKay to get out.

The episode also saw Langdon and Santos work together on an OD’d patient as Dr. Elias figured out that the two have some beef against each other.

Episode 14 of The Pitt ends with Dr. McKay being arrested after ignoring the court calls and messing with her ankle monitor.
