The Office gave us some of the most hilarious and memorable moments in television history. And that’s exactly why it’s a classic. The kind of show that doesn’t age regardless of the number of times you watch it.

The jokes are still funny. The characters always feel familiar. And honestly, it’s just a comfort watch. You may be on your lunch break or just don't know what to binge next. The Office is always there. You tune in, and within minutes, you're laughing again.

Most of the time when we talk about The Office we go straight to the iconic stuff. It is mostly the romances, the office pranks, or Michael Scott’s hilarious one-liners. And yes those are undoubtedly some of the best parts of the show.

But beneath all that is a layer we often miss. A subtle layer of underrated friendships that has held the show together. Even the fans agree that these two friendships are not talked about enough!

The Office: Jim and Dwight's friendship

Jim Halpert and Dwight Schrute seem like sworn enemies at first. They are the kind who’d rather jump into trash than spend quality time together. Their iconic prank war is hands down one of the most hilarious parts of The Office.

We cannot get enough of Jim's pranks on Dwight. And honestly it's hard to pick a favorite one from them. Was it the gift wrapped fake desk prank? Or the fax from Dwight's future self prank? There are just too many to choose from and we simply love all of them.

Jim’s creativity has no limits when it came to pranks. And Dwight always falls for it, no matter how many times he's been played.

But you’ll see there’s more than just that if you dig a little deeper into this relationship. They first lock horns, but then their relationship slowly develops into something softer as the seasons go by.

Remember when Dwight was heartbroken over Angela? It wasn’t Michael or even Pam who comforted him. It was Jim. That scene with the stairwell where Jim sits next to Dwight and is there for him is the kind of emotional support you don’t expect in the show. But it does hit in the right places.

And Dwight’s not a passive recipient in this evolving bromance either. It’s Dwight who jumps in with pepper spray to save Jim when Roy tries to attack him. Or take the time Dwight wasn’t allowed into a store because of his outfit. Jim could’ve roasted him. But instead he helped him dress up well. That is just friendship.

Oh, and when Dwight made Jim his best man on his wedding? Well, if this isn't the love-hate kind of relationship we all adore. These two may not admit it out loud but they care about each other deeply.

They’re kind of like brothers behind all the mischief. Weird and dysfunctional, but brothers nonetheless.

The Office: Pam and Dwight's friendship

Pam and Dwight's relationship doesn’t scream for attention. It’s not filled with prank wars or absurd storylines. It’s sincere.

Dwight treated Pam with a certain level of respect that he rarely showed anyone else from the very beginning. He is blunt with others, but with her, there is restraint. For instance, when Pam casually asks him to pick up paper towels and chocolate syrup while he’s on an intense “manhunt slash rescue mission”. And he deadpans,

“Pam, I’m obviously going to get that stuff for you, so just shut up.”

That is just weirdly sweet.

Just like how Jim was there for Dwight during his heartbreak, Dwight was there for Pam during hers in The Office.

And then there’s that unexpectedly heartwarming moment when baby Cece’s crying at a party, and Dwight just scoops her up and calms her down. He could have made a scene or just ignored it. But he didn't. He even chose the baby over Angela!

And Pam doesn’t just tolerate Dwight, she gets him. She’s the one by his side when he has a concussion. He goes to no one else but Pam when he needs help with deciding on a gift for Angela.

Dwight has no clue how to talk to women. And when, he is trained by the office ladies on it, it is Pam who is patient with him while the rest are just frustrated. She even hops on the phone with him during one of his awkward sales calls with a woman. That’s friendship. That’s care.

Pam sees the human in him. And when Robert California threatens Dwight’s job it’s not just Jim. It’s Pam and Jim who rush to protect him. Because they love him.

And that is what keeps The Office timeless.
