Netflix brings yet another high-stakes thriller series called The Gardener, slated to premiere on April 11, 2025. The streaming platform recently dropped the official trailer of the Spanish show, which promises lots of suspense, action, and drama packed into six episodes.

The Gardener follows the story of Elmer, a hitman who lacks basic human emotions. His mother controls him by making him part of her murder-for-hire business. However, things change when Elmer develops feelings for a girl who was meant to be his next target.

The cast includes Álvaro Rico, Cecilia Suárez, and Catalina Sopelana, among others. The series was written by Miguel Sáez Carral and Isa Sánchez, and Miguel Lorenzo and José Manuel Lorenzo served as executive producers. The Gardener is directed by Mikel Rueda and Rafa Montesinos. Elmer is constantly manipulated by his mother, La China Jurado. Elmer was in an accident when he was younger, after which he showed lack of basic human sensitivity and emotions, making him easy to control. They run a garden, which doubles as La China Jurado’s contract killing venture.

Elmer meets his next target, a young girl called Violeta, who is a school teacher. He falls in love with her despite his mother’s desperate plead for him to kill her. Meanwhile, there is the looming threat of their business getting exposed.

His lack of emotions makes Elmer the perfect hitman—something his mother has exploited for years. But everything changes when Elmer falls in love with his next target. Will that love be the grave he digs for himself?
