What happened in the previous episode of The Equalizer?
In season 5, episode 14, The Grave Digger, Robyn McCall had to revisit a criminal she dealt with previously. Over a year ago, she had put a serial killer known as the Gravedigger behind bars. He had targeted young brunette women, burying them alive with only a limited oxygen supply.
A new murder perfectly matched his method as the victim had the same branded mark the original killer used, proving that someone was copying Gravedigger. Detective Dante and Robyn questioned Tyler Ray Kynard, the man earlier been accused of the killings.
He behaved arrogantly and told the detectives that his follower was continuing his work. Investigators later discovered that somebody was smuggling messages into Kynard’s prison cell.
Robyn was then shocked to find out that Kynard was not the mastermind. Instead, he was just a scapegoat, and the real Gravedigger killer had been free all along. The team traced the real killer to Charles Winston, a wealthy man with a dark past. Using clues from his childhood bedroom, Robyn’s team found his next victim just in time and ensured the killer finally faced justice.
