The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, the newest K-drama that’s already making quite the noise among netizens for its unique concept, recently dropped its first two episodes. The premiere episodes were enough to set the stage for the upcoming drama that will unfold in the lives of the characters in The Dream Life of Mr. Kim.

The very talented Ryu Seung-ryong takes on the role of Kim Nak-su, while Myung Se-bin’s performance as Park Ha-jin, Nak-su’s wife, is also quite impressive.
She often tries to keep her husband happy, but impressing Nak-su is not an easy task. She frequently faces his condescending attitude, which slowly crumbles her self-worth. With only two episodes out, Cha Kang-yoon’s performance as Nak-su’s son, Kim Soo-gyeom, already steals the show. The way Soo-gyeom speaks to his father about his dissatisfaction leaves viewers reflecting on how often parents overlook their children’s happiness while focusing on their social image.
In the second episode of The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, Nak-su’s arrogance leads him down a complicated path. He ends up putting his position at the office in jeopardy after Tae-hwan attempts to end his life. Initially, Nak-su didn’t want to get involved, but after witnessing Tae-hwan’s situation, he rethinks his choices and begins to feel guilty about his actions.
Along with that, he is also asked by his boss to fix the issue with Tae-hwan, which further complicates matters. It’s revealed that someone will eventually need to take Tae-hwan’s position, and Nak-su’s boss hints that Nak-su might be the one sent off. His son is extremely disappointed by his father’s behavior. When Soo-gyeom tries to talk to him about taking a job at a startup, Nak-su berates him for his choices, wanting his son to follow the same path he did. Nak-su’s dismissive attitude toward his wife when she speaks up about taking the real estate exam also reveals how little he values her wishes.
It’s clear that the upcoming episodes will bring even more turmoil for Nak-su. His insecurities and jealousy over others’ achievements continue to drive people away from him. The first two episodes of The Dream Life of Mr. Kim portrayed the humbling experiences Nak-su faces, while the upcoming ones seem poised to lead him down a darker, more dangerous path.
