The Amazing Race Season 38 Episode 9 Recap: Live Double U-Turn, a Detour, and an unexpected elimination
The recently released The Amazing Race Season 28 Episode 9, titled, I'm Not a Big Fan of Olives, featured teams arriving in Athens, Greece. All of the remaining teams boarded the same flight. Hence, there was no reward for the first arriving participants.
Teams featured in the latest episode included: Tucker and Eric, Jas and Jag, Joseph and Adam, Izzy and Paige, Kyland and Taylor, with Jack and Chelsie.
Everyone shared their experiences and talked to fellow participants. However, it didn't last long because of the live Double U-Turn. The moment the show host announced the vote, things were intense.
Participants, including Joseph, struggled to vote against fellow teams, as they had formed close bonds with most of the contestants. Jag and Jas voted for Taylor and Kyland, which shocked everyone.
The Amazing Race's Taylor voted against Izzy and Paige. Taylor talked about the struggles female participants have to go through while sharing her nomination. As a result, Tucker and Eric had four votes against them. There was a tie between Kayland-Taylor and Jas and Jag. Each of them had three votes against them for the Double U-Turn.
As there was a tie, the teams cast their votes once again. However, it resulted in another tie. As a result, three teams were nominated: Tucker-Eric, Kyland-Taylor, and Jas-Jag.
To get the next clue, the teams had to find a man who had the clues. The next clue mentioned a Detour. For that, there were two tasks: a musical task and an olive task. For the musical task, The Amazing Race participants had to play a musical instrument and collect 10 euros. Contestants had to name ten types of olives. Tucker-Eric, Kyland-Taylor, and Jas-Jag chose the musical task first.
However, they faced issues after forgetting a few items for the task. Tucker and Eric forgot the basket, while Kyland and Taylor forgot the stand. Joseph and Adam also chose the same task.
Two teams chose the olives task: Jack-Chelsie and Izzy-Paige. Jas and Jag were the first ones to get their task done. They also completed the olives task first and headed to the next destination. The teams had to roll a boulder on a hill for their next clue.
Tucker and Eric were the first team to get done with their task on their first try. Soon, Izzy and Paige also got their olive task completed. Kyland and Taylor faced issues while trying to name all the olives. They completed it after a few tries.
Jas and Jag were the first team to get their boulder on the hill. The task was to remember the letters' sequence in the Greek alphabet. Jas chose to move forward with the task. Soon, Izzy and Paige also arrived and got started with the task. Participants faced issues while memorizing the alphabets.
Once again, Jas and Jag were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop. Jack and Chelsie were second, while Joseph and Adam were on third place. At fourth place, Izzy-Paige and Kyland-Taylor at fifth place. Shockingly, Tucker and Eric were the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop. As a result, the two were eliminated from the show.
