Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 premieres on Thursday, October 24, 2024 on Paramount+. The upcoming season of Star Trek: Lower Decks will kick-off with the first two episodes airing together, followed by new episodes dropping every Thursday.

The official synopsis for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 at StarTrek's official website states:
"The crew of the USS Cerritos is tasked with closing 'space potholes' -subspace rifts which are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Jr. Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford...if they didn’t also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and, scariest of all - their own career aspirations. This upcoming season is a celebration of this underdog crew who are dangerously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles."

What to expect from Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5?
Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 finale ended with a curious cliffhanger in which Lieutenant D'Vana Tendi voiced by Noël Wells ended up giving away her career on Starfleet so as to enable the crew of USS Cerritos to save Lt. Beckett Mariner, who is voiced by Tawny Newsome. The last season can be expected to pick up the pieces from where the previous season had left.
Fans of the show can expect the crew of USS Cerritos to be involved in an Orion war, the return of the infamous decontamination chamber from Star Trek: Enterprise and a meeting with the Klingons. Additionally, it is expected that Harry Kim of Star Trek: Voyager will return this time leading a line of clones.
Cerritos can be expected to unravel the mystery of other dimensions while investigating a strange case of a rift in time. After passing through the rift, the ship could enter into an alternate universe, where exists another version of Mariner called Becky at the helm of the ship.
The end of the line for Star Trek: Lower Decks
Despite being loved by audiences all over the world, Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 is expected to be the last in line for the animated show.
Showrunner Mike Manahan had first expressed his fears regarding the end of the show back in 2023, despite the fact that he had ample story material to build on. Eventually executive producer Alex Kurtzman and Manahan issued a statement on Instagram earlier this year signaling the end of the road for the Paramount+ show.
