Fans anticipating a new season of South Park Season 27 will have to wait a little longer, as the Trey Parker and Matt Stone-created animated series will not release a new episode this week. Additionally, Paramount+ and the creators have decided to follow a biweekly release schedule for the sitcom, with new episodes airing every other week through December.

As recently announced by Paramount+ under their latest deal with Parker and Stone, the sitcom will continue to follow a week-on/week-off release schedule till the season finale on December 10. South Park Season 27, which started strong with a premiere featuring Donald Trump with Satan and Jesus, will continue its political idiocy and Trump ridicule in the upcoming episodes as well.

The streaming numbers seem to be working for both Comedy Central and Paramount+, and the sitcom will continue to allow more production time between episodes for the current season.

More on this in our story.

South Park Season 27 to follow a biweekly release schedule

It looks like South Park Season 27 is enjoying its current run on Comedy Central a little too much and will continue to follow a biweekly release pattern, resulting in a stretched season. This also marks a shift from the sitcom's previous seasons (26 and 25), which aired their six-part seasons with weekly episodes every Wednesday. If Comedy Central continues to follow this new release pattern after September, fans can expect a delayed season finale on December 10, 2025 (reportedly).

The decision to stretch this Donald Trump-centric season is to accommodate all the world happenings as they come, as a source revealed to Deadline in a statement:

“What they’re doing means this year’s episodes need more time than usual to put together, to finish. So much happens right now in just one day with Trump. No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it.”

Additionally, Paramount+ is also on board with this unconventional release schedule for South Park Season 27, which has drawn the highest ratings for the sitcom since 2018. According to Deadline, a Paramount+ insider's statement read as follows:

“We’re not going to argue with what’s working. The numbers are great, the show is getting a lot of attention — if they want to give us a 20-week season for 10-episodes, that’s OK.”

With just three episodes in, South Park Season 27 has continued to garner 'double-digit views,' with Episode 2, Got a Nut, recording 6.2M global multi-platform viewers across Paramount+ and Comedy Central. From the ICE kidnappings to 'Homeland Barbie' and Trump's private time with the devil himself, the sitcom's current installment is a hit among fans and critics.

When can you expect the next episode of South Park Season 27?

As mentioned earlier, the sitcom will not release a new episode on August 27, 2025, and fans will have to wait an additional week to stream Episode 4.

South Park Season 27 Episode 4 will air on Comedy Central on September 3, 2025, at 10 pm ET/PT. For fans who wish to stream the new episode, it will be available on Paramount+ the following day, i.e., September 4, at 6 am ET/3 am PT.

While Trey and Parker revealed that the current installment of the sitcom was delayed to avoid the 2024 US elections, Donald Trump and political satire continue to rule the central plot of the show, including Episode 3, which featured Towelie in Washington DC. As the city remained militarized under Trump's leadership, Towelie's fate remained uncertain in the Episode 3 cliffhanger.

Episode 4 will continue to feature Towelie's misadventures in a heavily guarded Washington, as he continues to cross paths with Trump and Satan. Fans can expect even more bureaucratic issues and political absurdism, infused with real-world happenings.

Tune into South Park Season 27 Episode 4 on September 3.
