Courtney B. Vance will play the character of Zeus in Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, replacing the late Lance Reddick. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an American fantasy television series based on the book series by Rick Riordan, created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg for Disney+.
The show's first season premiered on Disney+ on 19 December 2023, with eight episodes. The show was renewed for a second season in February 2024, adapting the second book, The Sea of Monsters, to be released in 2025. The plot of the second season is set years after the events of the first season unfold.

The story of the second season will revolve around Percy, Annabeth Chase, and Percy's half-brother Tyson as they try to find the Golden Fleece. They hope it will heal the tree responsible for the protective force field around Camp Half-Blood. Along the way, they face various threats and challenges, including the Cyclops Polyphemus and the Greek goddess Circe.
With the addition of Courtney to the existing cast, he shared his excitement during an interview with Variety,
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the extraordinary cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians!”
Zeus’s role in the Percy Jackson series
Zeus also plays a major role in the story of Percy Jackson Season 1. In The Thief of Lightning, his master bolt is stolen from Mount Olympus. As a result, he threatens war with the other gods if it's not returned by the summer solstice.
The character of Zeus is known for his short temper and ability to hold a grudge. Zeus can come across as hypocritical, often failing to keep his promises while he expects others to keep their words.
The late Lance Reddick made a great impression as Zeus. His work in Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been presented posthumously. The popular actor died in March at the age of 60. His role as Zeus will now return to the screen, but Courtney B. Vance will play the role this time.

Zeus will play a more prominent role in the upcoming story, especially with the introduction of his demigod daughter, Thalia Grace, played by Tamara Smart, in Season 2.
