James Gunn provides a disappointing update regarding Peacemaker Season 3. With just two episodes left to be released, Season 2 is close to its end, and fans were anticipating news of a new season.
However, while talking to Collider, creator James Gunn stated that there is no news of a Peacemaker Season 3. He said:
"It is not right now."
Gunn further shared that although Peacemaker Season 3 might not be in the works, we will still get a chance to see those fan-favorite characters in DCU.

Peacemaker Season 3 gets a disappointing update
Season 2 of Peacemaker has been a thrilling journey for fans of DCU, with numerous easter eggs and cameos, with Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor appearing in the latest episode. However, apart from the cameos, the narrative of the alternate universe also helped in creating an intriguing storyline.
Furthermore, as Chris and his friends from the 11th Street Kids deal with a new challenge involving a dimensional portal, the new season has proven to be even more exciting and thrilling. However, as James Gunn, the creator of the superhero series, shared with Collider, Peacemaker Season 3 is not currently in the works.
However, fans should not get disappointed as he further divulged that there's still a chance that these characters might appear in other projects of the DCU.
To add to his previous comment, he said:
"I think that people should— that doesn't mean there aren't plans for these characters, but it's not necessarily Season 3 of Peacemaker."
He further teased that since there are still two episodes left of Season 2, some of the questions about the characters might also be answered in the finale of Season 2. He said:
"And then people should watch Episode 8 to see what happens, because maybe some of your questions will be answered in that episode by itself."
Therefore, while Peacemaker Season 3 might not be the next stop for Gunn, he assured that the characters will continue to exist and will be seen in other projects. Furthermore, reiterating that the finale of Season 2 will also answer some questions about the characters of the show.

Peacemaker Season 2 premiered on August 21, 2025. From the beginning of the latest season, the show has been bringing back canonical characters from the DC universe, such as members of the Justice Gang among several others. However, the latest cameo of Nicholas Hoult's character Lex Luthor, which first debuted in the Superman movie earlier this year, has become the highlight of this season.
In Episode 6 of Season 2, Rick Flag Sr. is seen going to meet Luthor at Belle Reve, where he makes a deal with him. In exchange for helping him out with Chris's dimension portal, he promises to get him out of Belle Reve and shift to Van Kull Prison, with no metahumans around.
This new development will surely become a dangerous threat to Chris in the next two episodes. Besides John Cena, who portrays the titular character, the show also includes Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Nhut Le, and several others.
