Starz has confirmed that fans should await season 8 of Outlander, the beloved historical fantasy drama. The release date, however, is not confirmed yet. Considering that the second part of season 7 of Outlander will not air, we can expect the final season to be out only by 2025 or 2026.

Ardent fans of Outlander have been following updates on the show's eighth and final season shared by the cast on their social media. Based on the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon, the period drama, with its unique blend of romance, fantasy, adventure, and time travel, has captured the hearts and minds of viewers all over the world since its debut season in 2014.

While fans are still awaiting the second part of the penultimate season, they are also eagerly looking forward to the final season, which is already under production in Scotland. Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie on Outlander, revealed on his official Instagram account that season 8 is already in the works.

The cast is ready for a bittersweet farewell to their beloved show, Outlander, which they have worked on for more than a decade. It will be as difficult for them as it will be for the loyal fans.

Season 7 of Outlander has 16 episodes. It has two parts. The first part, comprising six episodes, aired on June 16, 2023. The second part of this season is yet to be premiered.

Outlander follows the life of Claire Randall, a former military nurse who served in World War II. She is mysteriously returned to 1743 in Scotland, where she falls in love with and marries Jamie Fraser, a Highland warrior, and gets involved in the Jacobite rising.

Season 8 of Outlander will have ten episodes. We can expect the return of executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Matthew B. Roberts, and Maril Davis for the last season.

Though the show is based on Diana Gabaldon's book, it has changes and adaptions made to it. The author has not completed the entire book series yet, so the writers had to add and modify certain elements to make the show engaging.

They have altered character arcs but retained major plotlines and remained true to the overall narrative of the books. Hence, it is likely that the next season's events might be adjusted to fit the screen narrative since it is the final season of Outlander. It is set to be based on the ninth book of Gabaldon's Outlander series, Go Tell The Bees That I'm Gone.
