Outer Banks has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix since its debut in 2020. The show follows the Pogues in Kildare, North Carolina. Their life is spent on the Cut and they have to battle classicism and elitism with the wealthy and chase treasures to make money.

Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2 finally aired and in this season the creators’ have dealt with a major character’s death. Since season 5 will be the last season of Outer Banks, it was only natural that season 4 would pack a solid punch and the finale did land a shocking conclusion to season 4.

The most shocking conclusion came regarding the unfortunate fate of one of the pogues, JJ as he was stabbed to death by his biological father to save Kiara, his girlfriend.

While the finale of Outer Banks season 4 part 2 shocked the viewers with JJ’s death, his character had come full circle in this season. His whole world changed when he learned he was born a Kook and his father was not what he said he was.

JJ was framed for murder and he set the city on fire. He also found the Blue Crown and in the end, he sacrificed himself for his only real family - his friends.

Let us now explore JJ’s death and the ending of Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2 in detail.

The following article contains spoilers.

What happens to JJ at the end of Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2?

It was revealed that Wes Genrette’s son-in-law, Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), was JJ’s biological father and turned out to be the greatest villain in this season.

Being an extremely hateful character, Groff only cares about his own interests. He was a murderous soul and killed Wes, Hollis Robinson, and in the end, his son, JJ.

At the end of the tenth episode, Groff takes Kiara with a knife to her neck and asks JJ to reveal where the Blue Crown is. JJ agrees to tell him but being the villain that Groff is, JJ’s promise is not enough for him.

He stabs JJ in the stomach and tells him,

“You should have given me the rope.”

As was shown previously, JJ had left Groff at the bottom of a well after Rafe had pushed him. While JJ did hand him a jug of water, he did not try to save him either for obvious reasons since Groff had given him away as a baby, framed him for murder, and lied to him.

Groff then took the Blue Crown and left, telling the Pogues he was on his way to Lisbon to find a potential buyer. The group, however, did not give up on avenging JJ’s death.

The group is determined to take revenge for JJ

Since his friends were everything to JJ, for whom he would have given his life in a heartbeat, his friends got ready to do the same for him in the season 4 part 2 finale.

At the end of the last episode, Kiara simply says,

“Revenge”

Essentially, there is no way the Pogues are giving up on JJ. Initially, the conversation on this line was started by Rafe (Drew Starkey) who asked if they were all going to give up but it was clear that everyone knew better.

Is Sarah pregnant in Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2?

Sarah’s pregnancy reveal is another shocking moment in Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2.

JJ had told Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) and John B. (Chase Stokes) that his name would make a great name for a child, regardless of gender. However, the couple had shrugged off that idea initially.

But, as the season ended with JJ’s death, naming their child after him seems more significant now. While the timeline of season 5 is not clear now, it can be expected that Sarah will be with a child throughout the season.

What happens to Rafe in Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2?

Rafe’s character transforms in the second part of Outer Banks Season 4. After he realizes he has been scammed by Groff for $400,000, he joins the Pogues and is ready to find the crown and take Groff down.

Though the Pogues were initially not keen on trusting Rafe given his history of outbursts, he served himself as useful throughout their mission. He also has a heart-to-heart moment with his sister Sarah, when he reveals to him that she did not murder their father; instead, it was he who sacrificed himself to save her.

She told him,

“If he was still around, he’d want us to work together. You’re the only family I have left.”

However, Rafe is not completely healed yet. When Groff tells him that his girlfriend Sophia was paid off in the scam Groff pulled, Rafe calls her and asks her to get out of his house.

For now, it seems that Rafe would go along with the Pogues in Morocco and finish off their mission alongside them. However, where would the character land ultimately that remains to be seen.

Outer Banks can be streamed on Netflix.
