It’s a great time for the fans of Only Murders in the Building as the hit Hulu comedy series has been renewed for its fifth season. Like the previous seasons, the new season will also have 10 episodes.
The show’s renewal announcement came a week after the premier of season 4 on August 27. Season 4 will run till October 29.
Season 5 is also likely to have the main trio, consisting of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. Though there is no announcement on the release date, if the show maintains consistency, Only Murders in the Building Season 5 could air next summer.
What to expect from Only Murders in the Building season 5?
Not much has been revealed yet about the fifth season of the show. But showrunner Jeff Hoffman mentioned:
"We’ve been keeping that a secret for about a week and a half now. It’s very exciting... We’ve been in the writers room for season 5 for two weeks now. So it’s pretty fast and we’re already in."
Cast of Only Murders in the Building Season 5
Besides the regulars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short, the fourth season of Only Murder in the Building featured the most star-studded cast of the show. Meryl Streep, who was introduced in season 3, returned in season 4. Another cast member who returned in the latest season was Jane Lynch, whose character Sazz Pataki was the murder victim.
They were joined by newcomers including Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Richard Kind, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, and Molly Shannon.
Regarding the cast, creator John Hoffman said to TVLine:
"In this day and age, to have five seasons of anything is extraordinary, and it’s all due to this incredible group."
He further added that he feels honored to work on-screen and off with the cast and that they are all doing their best to "take a podcast pivot into a whole new world."
What happens in Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building?
According to the official logline, the 4th season of Only Murders in the Building focuses on:
Charles, Oliver and Mabel wrestle with the shocking events surrounding Charles’ stunt double and friend, Sazz Pataki (played by recurring guest star Jane Lynch),
As they question whether Charles or Saz were the intended victim, the trio reaches LA, where they find out that a Hollywood studio is getting ready to make a film based on their podcast. This proposed film is supposed to have Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, and Eva Longoria as the stars.
The logline further states,
As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.
