The show's imagery and landscapes look grand, as Márquez describes them in his book. Known for his vivid and in-depth descriptions, location is important for the show.

We see cousins José and Úrsula, who marry against their parent's wishes. Thus, they begin their journey to a new home. When they come across a land across a river of prehistoric stones, they baptize it Macondo.

The show will explore the generations of the Buendía lineage, who will be tormented by wars, illness, and a curse of 100 years of solitude.

The plot reads:

''When diving into the adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude, my intention was to create something authentic that carries the stature of an international production, because the story deserves it'', Alex García López, one of the directors of the show.

As the director stated in an interview, the show's production, which was shot in Columbia and filmed in Spanish, had the support of Garcia's family throughout the filming.
