The White Lotus season 3 has been a success, and Saturday Night Live recently released a pre-taped parody of the show called The White Potus. While it was a funny parody of the show with the characters reimagined, it was perhaps a tad bit unfair to Aimee Lou Wood. The parody is centered around US President Donald Trump and his family, replacing the Ratcliff Family. Sarah Sherman plays Aimee Lou's character Chelsea, but the character's portrayal allegedly seems like a dig at Aimee Lou's teeth.

Aimee Lou Wood recently spoke about the parody and how it made her feel about her story. As Variety reports, Aimee Lou Wood called the The White Lotus parody,

“mean and unfunny”

How did The White Lotus star Aimee Lou feel about how she was portrayed in the SNL parody?

Aimee Lou's unique teeth have been a topic of conversation for quite some time. The actress has proven her art through her work in Sex Education, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, The White Lotus, and Living. While many have loved or ignored her unique teeth, some have resorted to poking fun. The actress has always been open about how she loves her teeth and would never change them. The recent SNL parody of The White Lotus allegedly exaggerated how her teeth look. Many netizens found it distasteful.

In The White Lotus parody sketch, John Hamm plays RFK Jr., who is supposed to be a parody of Rick, played by Walter Goggins. In the SNL parody, he says,

“I’ve been having these insane ideas, like what if we took all the fluoride out of the drinking water? What would that do to people’s teeth?”

We then see Sarah Sherman as Chelsea with exaggerated fake teeth. She asks,

“Fluoride? What’s that?''

Netizens found the portrayal to be disrespectful in the name of humor. Many have criticized the parody for it. As Variety reports, Aimee Lou Wood spoke about it on her Instagram story, saying,

“Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about- but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”

She elaborated,

“Last thing I’ll say on the matter. I am not thin skinned, I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth. I don’t mind caricature – I understand that’s what ‘SNL’ is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on.”

She added how she had received

“thousands of messages” in support after the parody was released.

All seasons of The White Lotus are streaming on Max. The White Lotus parody is available on SNL's YouTube channel.
