The actor teased a cliffhanger, something that creator Alexi Hawley is best known for. Jones said:
"That’s the thing about [showrunner] Alexi [Hawley], man, he always leaves it on a little cliffhanger."
He continued:
"You’re gonna feel a little annoyed because, like I said, some Monica [Stevens] mayhem is coming. It’s a very big episode once again, so we’ve got the FBI, Felix [Solis] is in it again [as Agent Garza]…"
Per Jones, the suspense in The Rookie Season 7 is linked to the biggest villain, Monica Stevens. The cast member warned that viewers might find themselves frustrated (in a good way) because Monica is about to unleash chaos.

The Rookie Season 7 came out in January 2025, bringing back Fillion in his leading role of John Nolan and introducing new challenges for him and his team. Among the key cases in the seventh season is the officers' focus on two escaped inmates who are on the run and pose a significant threat.
To deal with this issue, Nolan and his team welcomed new rookies as they began a high-stakes manhunt to capture the prisoners. The ongoing season is packed with personal struggles, intense chases, and never-ending problems for Nolan.
Fans can expect an even more thrilling episode, as Richard T. Jones mentioned a cliffhanger involving Monica. The actor further shared:
"I think people are gonna be very happy, but it’s one of those cliffhangers where you’re like, ‘Oh my goodness, when is it coming back?'"
Unlike typical villains, Monica has always proved to be the most ruthless and prefers taking calculated moves. As seen in The Rookie Season 7, she orchestrated a bus hijacking by teaming up with a pregnant woman.
Her goal? Steal sensitive information belonging to the government. She has been a villainous character since the previous season and will now return to create more problems.
