The Challenge 40 star Darrell Taylor and Tina Barta from Era 1 were eliminated in episode 7, which aired on Wednesday, October 2. As Cory and Rachel won the elimination challenge, they got the chance to select the target for this week's elimination arena.
Cory and Rachel targeted Darrell & Tina (Era 1), Nehemiah & Aviv (Era 2), Jordan & Nia (Era 3) and Kyland & Michele (Era 4).
Episode 7 posed the challengers with the daily challenge called 'Leap of Faith', and as the format of the show goes, the losing team's targeted challengers will directly face the elimination challenge.
In the daily challenge Era 4 lost, sending Kyland and Michele into the elimination challenge. The winning team Era 3 chose Darrell and Tina from Era 1 to compete against Era 4 team.
The elimination challenge was called 'Boxster-Phobia', and contestants had to dodge the boxers, constantly throwing punches at them. The challenge was made even more difficult by putting doors and rods through which they had to navigate, while also looking for a clue to help them crack the code.
Darrell was able to get out of the box first but was unable to crack the code correctly.
After his elimination, Darrell shared his thoughts on season 40 with Entertainment Weekly. In the interview held on October 2, Darrell opened up about his clash with Laurel, and how she allegedly behaved like a bully the whole season. He said:
"What pisses me off is, if it was a guy, we wouldn't have these problems. It would've already been handled, but I felt like they weren't doing enough to protect me, like she was trying to provoke me to do something."

Darrell Taylor, a known face for The Challenge fans bid farewell from season 40 this week. Darrell was upset after being eliminated but was furious at Laurel Stucky's alleged bullying behavior throughout the season.
He claimed to go one-on-one with her during the Reunion. He has also targeted Laurel earlier for the elimination round which he thinks could be one of the reasons for her behavior.
Laurel Stucky has been controversial this season for her various clashes, especially the one with Cara Maria. Darrell expressed during the interview that Laurel was getting on his nerves by describing an incident where they were traveling in a bus, and Laurel kept on throwing peanuts at him.
According to Darrell, Laurel wanted him to react in response to all the bullying behavior, which could have cost him his spot in the show. He wished to call her out during the Reunion and said that she had lots of insecurities causing her to behave like this.
