Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan, played by actress Iman Vellani, is a fan-favorite introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Avengers: Endgame. So far, the actress has appeared twice in the MCU. The first time we meet Kamala is in her six-episode Disney+ solo series that streamed between June 8, 2022, and July 13, 2022. She then appeared in the 2023 movie, The Marvels.
After The Marvels, we didn't get many hints about Kamala or her superhero alter-ego until the fifth episode of Daredevil: Born Again, titled With Interest. The episode features a surprise collaboration between Matt Murdock and Kamala's father, Yusuf Khan, played by Indian actor Mohan Kapur. For the first time in nearly two years, we also get to see Ms. Marvel in the form of a funko pop.
This has fans wondering if Iman Vellani will be reprising her role as Kamala in the MCU in the near future. Her creator, Sana Amanat, who is currently an executive producer in Daredevil: Born Again, expressed hope for the potential return of Kamala in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to a ScreenRant report, Amanat's exact words were:
“Oh God, I hope soon! She is beloved by all of us at Marvel, and we have been talking… Hopefully there will be plans soon, but it is very, very TBD. Hopefully [The Marvels] will not be the last we see of her.”
Explaining Ms. Marvel creator Sana Amanat's comments
Sana Amanat, who sat down for an interview with TVLine on April 2, 2025, began her career with Marvel in 2009 and made new strides by creating Kamala Khan, aka. Ms. Marvel, 11 years ago, in 2014.
In 2019, Amanat moved from comics to the production side of Marvel and currently serves as one of Daredevil: Born Again's executive producers. Thus, it isn't surprising that an important character associated with her creation plays a role in a different show that Amanat produces. The Born Again episode also mentions that Kamala is currently in California with her friends. While Yusuf doesn't go into detail, viewers and fans have theorized that Kamala is building the Champions/Young Avengers team, as hinted in the post-credit scene of 2023's The Marvels.
It is currently unknown if Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel is a part of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. But if a leaked concept art is to be believed, Kamala and a bunch of other young superheroes might return in the future. However, it is unclear which project she will be appearing in.
The official Disney+ website says in its description of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel:
"Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?"
