Netflix aired Love is Blind Season 7's first six episodes on October 2, 2024. Among many singles who have come looking for their "true love" is 34-year-old electrician Stephen Richardson. He recently appeared for an interview with People on October 6, 2024, and shared some interesting details about his ethnicity.
Fans who have been following Stephen and his potential partner Monica would indeed enjoy what Stephen has found. In his interview, the Love is Blind star revealed his "roots" and where most of his "bloodlines" come from.
After Stephen's sister took a 23andMe test, they learned that their ancestry is a "mixture of things."
"That's just what it was until my sister did a 23andMe (test), and suddenly there's not a drop of Italian in us. We're all just like, 'Wait, wait, wait, what?' And my grandmother, who was the one who told us we were Italian, had passed away three, four years prior, and she was the only one on my dad's side we had left. So just a bunch of questions, no answers. It was very weird," shared Stephen.
Love is Blind star Stephen learned about his "African Ancestry": Details revealed
In his October 6, 2024, interview with People, the Love is Blind star shared his newfound knowledge about his "ancestry." After learning that he had "African ancestry," Stephen is determined to know more about that. He referred to that as,
"Nigerian, Ghanaian and Congolese cultures, where most of the bloodlines come from."
Things unfolded after his sister took a DNA test, and they discovered new information from the results.
Sharing about his family identifying themselves as "white," Stephen revealed that his father was,
"Three-fifths or half black."
After he told Monica about the same, she seemed open and excited. She referred to it as a "cool experience" and supported Stephen.
Surprisingly, Stephen's grandmother told his entire family that they all had "Italian roots" for "most of their lives." However, it all changed with one test.
"For years, I always knew, my mom even said, 'You're a mutt, you have a lot of stuff in you.' But okay, what does that mean? I was told I was Italian. And so it was so cool to finally be connected to a culture versus just having, you're a mixture of things," shared Stephen.
While growing up, Stephen felt "proud" of having a "little bit of Italian" in him. Since learning about not having "a drop of Italian" in him, he has felt "very weird" because his grandmother is no longer alive to answer all the questions he has.
In addition, the Love is Blind star also mentioned how, while bartending, people were asking about his ethnicity. While he had no idea, others could see his "African" heritage in him.
"It's interesting because I would bartend in this one area where I get a lot of people of African-American descent asking me if I was mixed."
Stephen finds all this new information "interesting" and intends to learn as much as possible through his research. He has started researching to see what his family had ties to/with.
