TLC premiered the latest season of Sister Wives, and a lot of new information regarding the Brown family has surfaced. Fans have learned more about the Brown family and various family members.

An exclusive clip shared by ET Online on September 20, 2024, revealed how one of the Sister Wives, Meri Brown, decided to get a divorce, which she calls a "release" from Kody Brown.

While Meri wants to "move forward" with her plan, her now ex-husband, Kody Brown, is unhappy about it. In a separate confessional, Kody revealed,

"So I'm going to let Meri go and do her thing. Because if I'm angry at her, it becomes a fight. I needed her to just go away. Because it took her forever to finally realize. It's been done and over for years."

Sister Wives star Meri wants a "release," aka divorce, from Kody Brown

The clip shared by ET Online started with Kody revealing how Meri shared the "release" news with him eight weeks ago.

"She was gonna to Utah with her church leaders and basically request a divorce. It's called a "release" in our church," shared Kody.

In a separate confessional, Meri told the cameras about how she and the rest of Kody's "Sister Wives" got married in the presence of the church leaders. She also mentioned how a divorce is called a "release" in their church.

"When each of us four ladies married Kody, it was through our church. Obviously, we can't all be legally married. But it was what we called a "covenant." So I feel it best to terminate that because we are not moving forward with any marriage, and I don't want to be, like, sealed to him for eternity if he doesn't want me, and you know I'm at a place that, let's just separate completely," shared Meri.

When she asked Kody how he felt about Meri moving forward with the release/ divorce, Kody was "kind of resistant" to it. According to Meri, he also mentioned that he didn't want to acknowledge the "authority" of the church leaders.

Referring to that, Kody revealed that,

"The damage was done so badly that we are not going to reconcile, no matter what. So, however, we're made accountable to God. I don't want to be accountable to this church and all their BS."

The clip ended with Meri mentioning that she had been "living in limbo" for almost a decade and would not continue that. The Sister Wives star added that she was "moving forward" with her decision.
