Amazon's epic fantasy series The Rings of Power once drew comments from actor Orlando Bloom, lauded for playing elf-prince Legolas in The Lord of the Rings film series. The show serves as the prequel and is set long before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Instead of diving back into the adventures of Frodo or Bilbo, The Rings of Power focuses on the ancient history of the Middle-earth of the Second Age. The flagship series focused on war-ridden times, and the prequel highlights a relatively peaceful time.

This sets The Rings of Power apart from the original show, and Orlando Bloom expressed his eagerness to return to Middle-earth, even if only as a viewer. During his 2023 interview with Radio Times, Bloom admitted missing J.R.R. Tolkien’s world. He also praised the expansion of Tolkien’s mythology through The Rings of Power, calling the effort "courageous" given the success of the original film trilogy:

"I had missed Tolkien's mind and I’d missed his world and I’d missed his vision – and I think they just stepped back into Tolkien's world. I thought it was really courageous," he said.

While The Rings of Power fans eagerly await the third chapter, Orlando Bloom once expressed his excitement and thoughts on the prequel. As previously mentioned, the actor is a fan who rose to prominence through various roles including Legolas in The Lord of the Rings film series (2001–03), and The Hobbit film series (2013–14).

Bloom shed light on the challenges of creating a new version of a beloved world, and how The Rings of Power explored different aspects of Tolkien's universe. The actor said:

"It’s not an easy thing to take on another version of something that had such a remarkable run of its own, but I thought it was really admirable; the casting, the story, and the way they approached the world... I'm looking forward to more of it."

Orlando Bloom being one of the fans of the Prime Video series highlighted its popularity and loyal fanbase. The first two seasons have been successful and the next chapter is expected to focus on a pivotal moment of the middle-earth.

The war between the Elves and Sauron will be in full swing, with the Dark Lord moving closer to forging the One Ring for complete dominance. As for the release schedule, Amazon has yet to announce an official date.
