The Golden Bachelorette premiered on ABC on September 18, 2024. The show features Joan Vassos as the star and is the first-ever Bachelorette of the series. Fans might remember that she was also part of The Golden Bachelor during its inaugural season.
While Joan leads her own season of the franchise, 24 men are competing to become her partner. One of them is Keith Gordon, a 62-year-old participant. On the debut episode of The Golden Bachelorette, Joan gave the "first impression rose" to him.
Additionally, Joan shared more about Keith during her interview with E!, saying:
"When I got to have my conversation inside, he just felt like a big teddy bear. He made me feel safe. So it was more about the way he made me feel."
The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos opened up about Keith Gordon: Details explored
Before The Golden Bachelorette premiered, Joan gave an interview to E!, published on September 19, 2024. In her interview, the ABC star revealed her feelings about the various "first impressions" during the debut episode.
"I liked all those epic first impressions coming in funky cars and on horses and the things that people did. You usually think the first impression rose has to do with that, but for me, it really didn't. It was more of the way he made me feel."
Keith Gordon, one of the participants, opted to make his entrance even more impressive and unique. He arrived in a classic station wagon instead of the usual limousine and truly left his "first impression."
Seeing such a "classic" choice, Joan instantly felt "nostalgic." Referring to that, Joan shared,
"The nostalgia of that old station wagon made me think back to my childhood. Actually, we had one that looked remarkably like that car. That's how we traveled. We didn't have a lot of money, so we would pack up the car and go places as a family. So that automatically gave me a good feeling."
Later in The Golden Bachelorette debut episode, Joan and Keith had a "nice, normal" conversation, during which Joan felt he made her "feel comfortable immediately," even though she had to cut their meeting short to greet the next participant.
"I had to greet the next guy - I really didn't want to leave him (Keith)."
When Keith mentioned going for a "wine-and-cheese picnic," Joan describe what Keith made her feel:
"Like that's exactly what I would like to do right now. So I felt like he read me really well."
During one of their other conversations, Keith felt "like a big teddy bear," as Joan shared in the interview. She added how Keith made her feel "safe."
