A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the second spin-off to The Game of Thrones, was supposed to arrive in 2025. However, its release has now been delayed to 2026.

At Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfront presentation, a trailer of the upcoming show was shown, which revealed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is coming in 2026. As Variety reports, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, also said that the show will be arriving in 'winter'.

Given that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to arrive in 2026, it might just arrive in the early weeks of the year. The hope is that the executives won't stretch the release till November/December of 2026.

About A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

It is the second spin-off of Game of Thrones, after House of the Dragon. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set almost a hundred years before the Game of Thrones and a hundred years after the events of House of the Dragon. The show is based on George R. R. Martin's novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg, following the story of Ser Duncan the Tall and King Aegon V Targaryen before the former became the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and the latter sat on the Iron Throne.

According to Variety, the official logline for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reads,

''A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

Other cast members include Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Prince Aegon V's uncle. Tanzyn Crawford plays Tanselle, Daniel Ings plays Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen, Prince Aegon V's father.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was announced to be one of the shows in planning by HBO in 2021 and was officially ordered in 2023. Filming began in mid-2024 and wrapped in September of the same year.
