When a musical celebration turns into chaos

Surrounded by a wave of fans, Blue is attending the concert of her beloved musician, Nova Sykes. On the stage, Nova performs with a U.S. Navy Choir singer, Sally Poole, when the officer suddenly collapses and dies, leaving everyone in panic and confusion.

It is revealed that Sally, just as Nova, had peanut allergy and she was exposed to peanut oil from the smoke machine at the concert. While the NCIS team had initially assumed it is an accident, it comes to light that it was in fact premeditated murder. They suspect that the target was Nova.

Blue is suspicious of Nova’s father

As the investigation teams gets on with the task in hand, their first doubt is a fan named Cassie Hayes, who has been stalking Nova. After they question Cassie, they conclude that she is not the killer but just a delusional superfan. The team also derives other suspects including Nova’s head of security and her father Jeff.

The team slowly starts putting pieces together when they learn that Nova and Sally were in a relationship. Blue suspects Jeff from the first time she met him. She goes back to NCIS to test his fingerprints using a stolen coffee cup, and compares it to the crime scene.

Blue insists to the rest of the NCIS team that Jeff is the culprit, and her passionate involvement in the case shows her in a vulnerable light. Seeing her emotional state, Doc Roy later has a hear-to-heart conversation with Blue. She has had a mysterious past, which she continues to keep under the wraps.

Blue takes control

Wanting to keep Nova safe, Blue takes her from her hotel to her apartment. However, Jeff had taken Nova's phone and is, thus, able to track her. At the apartment, Nova lets Jeff that she hopes NCIS will help her.

It is revealed that Jeff knew about Nova wanting to be with Sally. He saw Sally as a threat and wished to eliminate her to keep control of Nova’s musical career. Jeff uses peanut oil in the concert stage smoke machine as he is aware of Sally's peanut allergy. He gets arrested and Nova is free to live her life the ways she wants.
