Everything to know about the release schedule of Murder in a Small Town
Murder in a Small Town faced a little change on Tuesday night, with the second episode airing at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX. This change was made instead of airing the show at its regular time, which was to air at 9 pm ET/PT, because of the Vice Presidential debate, which aired yesterday at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.
Following the third episode, the timing will resume at 9 pm ET/PT.

Recap of Murder in a Small Town Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2
Episode 1
The first episode of Murder in a Small Town is 90 minutes long and begins with the murder of Caryle Burke, the old man who dies in a small town. The episode, The Suspect, introduces Karl Alberg, the police chief, as he meets Cassandra, whom he met on a dating website.
The town seems to have secrets far too dark to remain unspoken, so it is as the investigation begins to gather momentum. Karl is the vigilant observer who finds that Mr George Wilcox, the man who discovered Caryle's body and called the police, was trying to hide something.
After much digging, Karl discovers that Wilcox is not only his friend but also Caryle's brother-in-law and best man. Wilcox confesses to never having trusted Caryle since the death of his sister, Audrey. The investigation reveals that Wilcox tried to destroy evidence in the lake that night.
Karl accuses Wilcox of disposing of the murder weapon. Knowing he's going to get caught, Wilcox has been planning to leave town. The truth eventually comes out: Wilcox lost control and killed Caryle after bad-mouthing Audrey. Although Wilcox doesn't deny the crime, he tells how Carlyle had been abusive to Audrey. Karl is torn but ultimately decides not to press charges in the hope of pursuing a romance with Cassandra.
Episode 2
Cassandra is excited to attend this prom-themed high school reunion night in Gibson in episode 2 of Fox's Murder in a Small Town. She tries to persuade her grumpy boyfriend, Karl, to join her. Cassandra is a little skeptical about bringing out Karl’s influential identity in front of everyone. But she and Karl head to the local high school gymnasium for what promises to be a magical evening.
But their evening takes an unexpected turn when Cassandra's former classmates discover a dead body in the marina. This leads Alberg to investigate the murder. After finding the killer, the episode ends with Karl making amends with a disappointed Cassandra, who wishes they'd spent more time together on prom night.
