Eventually, he joins a group of hackers (called fsociety) run by Mr. Robot. Their mission? To cancel the consumer debt by encrypting the data of the largest corporation in the world, E-Corp.

In the pilot episode of the series, we learn about Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer at AllSafe who's addicted to drugs and battles social anxiety and depression. After skilfully saving one of Allsafe's important clients, ECorp, from a security breach, Elliot is approached by Mr. Robot to join their secret society for hackers- fsociety. They aim to destroy all consumer debt records from the ECorps' systems.

The world wakes up to economic chaos- their mission is accomplished, but not without a cost. The hack triggers more than financial fallout. It rips open questions of morality, control, and personal consequences for Elliot, who finds himself waking up in an SUV three days later with no memory of how the mission ended or where Tyrell is now.

The two bond over their mutual hatred for ECorp, and Tyrell insists on being a part of fsociety's plans. But after they disappear together into the arcade headquarters, Tyrell vanishes. When Elliot wakes up three days later, Tyrell is gone. Nobody knows where. The last clue? A suspicious glance towards a popcorn machine, where fsociety had previously stashed a gun.

Angela starts as Elliot's childhood friend and moral compass, trying to reopen a lawsuit against ECorp for a toxic waste cover-up that killed her mother and Elliot's father. But as she starts to investigate, she unravels more secrets.
After a failed attempt to use her old firm's evidence, Angele finds herself accepting a job offer letter from Terry Colby-the man she once helped incriminate. By the end of Mr. Robot Season 1, she's seen walking the halls of E-Corp. Whether she's infiltrating or selling out is still unclear.
Shayla, Elliot's neighbor and girlfriend, offers him brief moments of normalcy. But her connection to drug dealer Fernando Vera spells doom. After Elliot turns on Vera for raping Shayla, Vera retaliates by kidnapping her and forcing Elliot to break him out of prison. However, it's too late- as Vera hands Elliot the keys to the car, he finds Shayla's dead body in the trunk. Shayla's death shatters Elliot, and he plunges into a darker world thereafter.

Hovering in the background is Whiterose, a mysterious hacker who leads the Dark Army. She meets Elliot briefly. In the post-credits scenes, Whiterose- now presenting as a man seen speaking to E-Corp's CEO Phillip Price. The two seem surprisingly familiar. It's a quiet but chilling reveal.
