Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan Season 5 Episode 2: Sneak peek reveals the mystery behind Gibson mine's mining issue
On May 16, 2025, Gold Rush's Instagram released a Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan Season 5 Episode 2 sneak peek. The second episode, titled, Gold Today, Gone Tomorrow features Juan, Freddie, and a couple who faced some difficulties while mining. Hence, they called Juan and Freddie to help them.
While on their way to the Gibson mine, Freddy and Juan faced an issue. Freddy's truck got stuck in the mud. Despite having the chains on the front wheels of the truck, the rear wheels got stuck in the mud. To help the wheels have more traction, Freddy tied the rope, similar to the chains:
"We're going to get Freddie's truck through, see how that does, and then it's my turn. Down the banks of the river, so it's going to be quite a tumble if we end up losing one of these trucks," confessed Juan.
With the ropes tied to the wheels, Freddy was able to move past the mud, whom Juan followed, hoping that his truck won't get stuck. Fortunately, Juan, with his skills and handling the vehicle, was able to move past the mud without any issues.
Soon, Freddy and Juan reached the Gibson mine, where Jim Gibson and Wendy Tuerlings were waiting for their arrival. Wendy asked the duo if they were like the JLo of the mining world. Freddy and Juan responded; they were more like "Jello", and everyone laughed.
The Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan's narrator introduced the Gibson mine owners as Jim Gibson and Wendy Tuerlings. They had 1800 acres of land. For that, they have 3 excavators, 2 washplants, and 1 rock truck, which cost over a million dollars.
"Freddie and Juan are sliding their way to the Gibson mine, where Jim Gibson and Wendy Turlings own an 1,800 acre property and have amassed a million dollars' worth of equipment to run ancient river gravels on deposits known as benches," the narrator explained.
When Juan and Freddy inquired, Jim mentioned that they had 1,800 acres of property and a "really big truck." They needed to figure out what they were doing wrong. He also mentioned that for the current season, their target was to mine 100 ounces of Gold.
"With 10 ounces already secured, Jim and Wendy have around 60 days left on the season to secure the remaining 90 ounces," shared the narrator.
When Freddy asked, Jim showed him a jar with some gold nuggets. Jim also said that they have been getting a "lot of sand." He added, the size of the gold nuggets has decreased in size. Listening to Jim, Freddie determined that it was the ground that had issues.
Discovery will release Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan Season 5 Episode 2 on May 16, 2025.
