Manifest fans, get ready, because this is one reunion that nobody expected! Manifest is known for coming back at the most unanticipated times, and now it is once again the center of attraction, but this time for a reason other than Flight 828.

The reappearance of the familiar Manifest cast altogether is a strong enough reason to immediately draw the attention of especially those viewers who have been with the series through thick and thin right from the start till the end.

The relationship is genuine, the reunion is real, but the environment is entirely different. The fact that this moment is particularly captivating is because it is entirely the opposite of the plot of Manifest that comes to the fore.

Two main characters from Manifest, Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas, are instead reunited in a brand new series under conditions not related to the supernatural drama that supposedly existed in their on-screen relationship, which was characterized by the love-hate that the audience could not get enough of.

For the viewers, the connection is instant, but the context is totally new.

A reunion that is not bound by the realm of Manifest

Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas were the leading characters for a few seasons in the series Manifest, portraying the characters of Michaela Stone and her brother, Ben Stone. These characters’ personalities, as the leading characters, were the source of emotion and the story in the series, with many storylines surrounding the mysteries of Flight 828 centered on these characters.

When the Netflix series ended with its fourth season, both actors then went on to pursue other things, like other acting roles. However, their upcoming connection is now through The Hunting Party, a procedural drama on NBC. Not only is this reunion not a manifestation of the previous series, but it also, in no way, refers to the earlier series' plot.

On the contrary, it is an issue of overlap of professionals, with the two actors being part of the same program but playing entirely different and separate characters.

Melissa Roxburgh's character after Manifest

Melissa Roxburgh plays Rebecca ‘Bex’ Henderson in The Hunting Party, who is a former FBI profiler. The importance of the character is that it provides a dramatic shift from her previous character, who was right in the midst of some supernatural events, dilemmas, and losses in the show Manifest.

Although Manifest was a combination of various other genres like mystery, sci-fi, and family drama, The Hunting Party is a pure case of procedural drama. Roxburgh’s character in The Hunting Party approaches the criminal world in a highly realistic manner by performing extensive investigation work, thus utilizing her profiling along with her tactics of decision-making.

Reason behind Josh Dallas's guest role

Dallas appears in The Hunting Party as a guest star and not as one of the regulars. He plays criminal Elliot Carr, also known as the “Connecticut Cobbler.” This character is a serial killer whose activities are the main focus of the episode he features in.

This new character is quite different from the one Dallas portrayed in Manifest, where he had the role of a loving father and an enlightening figure struggling with the extraordinary alongside his family. In The Hunting Party, Josh’s presence is limited and reduced to one storyline, indicating that the reunion is occasional rather than constant.

Why is it not a Manifest continuation

This cannot be a Manifest continuation of the story, no matter how much people may speculate about it. The reunion, which has caught the attention of people, has nothing to do with the plot or the themes of the previous series, Manifest, apart from the recurring actors.

The production and reporting on The Hunting Party is never linked to Manifest in any way except through its cast. The fate of the characters in Manifest was determined in the final episode, which was Apocalypse, and the main mystery of the plane and the passengers was also resolved there.

The conclusion wasn't altered by the reunion; it merely confirmed that the Manifest universe couldn't be expanded through this reunion in any official way.

Legacy of Manifest influencing audience perception

The suggestion is that even when the show ended, audiences still saw the actors and their work through the lens of Manifest. The series had a second life when it migrated from NBC to Netflix, and it was not only the numbers that increased, but also the cultural impact that was solid.

Hence, the actors playing Jack and Grace are still being identified with Manifest in people's minds. This link explains the phenomenon whereby the co-starring of the said actors in another series immediately attracts attention. On the one hand, The Hunting Party is an independent procedural drama; on the other hand, viewers who know about Manifest will rightfully point to the actors' shared past.

The industry context behind actor reunions

Television has had some reunions in the past, and such cases are not rare. Manifest is one of those shows where the cast members, after having worked with each other for a number of years, are now on the same route again because of the same network.

Such moments not only hold the gaze of the viewers, but they also experience the same emotions that they felt in the past viewing. The reunion in this case is special because it does not relate to any storytelling of nostalgic moments.

The link is there, but it is not in the narrative of the new series; it is mainly driven by the audience.

Ultimately, the reunion between Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas is all about the professional setting that comes with it, as opposed to the artistic need. Manifest is still a closed storyline, and The Hunting Party is just another part of the life journey for these actors.

As for the crowd, the lure of the moment is in recognition rather than in expectations. The face of Manifest is not in sight, yet its influence still lingers on the rare moment of the convergence of the former-stars in even the most unexpected locales.
