Hannah Jiles (27) terminated her engagement with Nick Dorka (29) following a series of communication breakdowns in Washington D.C. during fall 2023's Love Is Blind Season 7. The split occurred during wedding dress preparations while Nick attended a separate wedding event and Hannah's mother visited. Their final interaction happened during dress fittings, where Hannah halted wedding plans to prevent family travel expenses.

The relationship faced multiple documented issues, including an hour-long private conversation between Nick and castmate Katie that created tension, disagreements about filming intimate, discussions due to Nick's Catholic family background, and different approaches to on-camera behavior.

Both participants have maintained zero contact since filming wrapped, with their next interaction scheduled for the October 30 reunion at 9 pm ET.

Wedding dress shopping marks end for Love Is Blind's Hannah and Nick

Love is Blind Season 7 star Hannah Jiles made her decision to end the engagement during wedding preparation activities, specifically while trying on wedding dresses. In an interview with US magazine, Hannah recalled the moment stating,

"Nick was away at another friend’s wedding. My mom was in town and he had just met my friends. We were having issues. It just seemed at that point I was just dogging him and I was being the nastiest version of myself.”

She continued,

“We were bringing out the worst versions in each other. It wasn’t a specific thing. It was just like, ‘OK, we’re trying on wedding dresses [and] I can’t do this. We should not be getting married.’"

The timing aligned with Nick's absence at another wedding celebration. Their Love is Blind Season 7 relationship showed increasing signs of strain, particularly regarding discussions about personal matters on camera. Hannah cited preventing unnecessary family travel expenses and emotional investment as primary motivations for her timing.

The couple's final weeks together revealed mounting frustrations about their communication methods.

"I was not being nice and I don't know why he would wanna continue that," Hannah acknowledged.

Specific communication breakdowns

A notable incident highlighting their communication challenges occurred during a lengthy conversation between Nick and fellow Love is Blind Season 7 contestant Katie. The discussion extended for approximately 60 minutes while Hannah stood nearby, unable to participate.

Hannah expressed frustration about being excluded from this extended interaction, particularly given its length and private nature.

"They were talking for almost an hour and I was standing right there and didn't even think about it. I was like, 'What are you talking about?' I had no clue," Hannah revealed.

Hannah later commented on their overall communication patterns by identifying specific moments from the footage. Upon reviewing the filmed episodes, she recognized instances where her words carried more impact than initially realized. She acknowledged,

"I know that I'm direct and I can be rude a lot because I don't realize my words. When you actually see exactly what's coming out of your mouth, you're like, 'That was harsh.'"

The couple struggled particularly with discussions about physical intimacy, as Nick preferred keeping such conversations private from cameras, while Hannah wanted to address these matters openly.

Post-split events

The dynamics between Hannah, Katie, and cast member Marissa evolved into a close friendship group, which they labeled "the trio." Despite the extended private conversation between Nick and Katie causing initial tension, Hannah maintained her connection with Katie post-split.

Moreover, recent developments revealed Nick's social media interaction with Micah Lussier from Love Is Blind Season 4. Through direct messaging, Nick expressed significant interest in Micah approximately one month before his breakup with Hannah aired. Micah, who received this message in her primary inbox, has yet to respond to Nick's communication attempt.

The Love Is Blind Season 7 reunion special, scheduled for October 30 at 9 PM ET, promises the first interaction between Hannah and Nick since their separation.
