Jeopardy! was back for another thrilling game this week with Mark Fitzpatrick, Colleen Kelly, and Robert Franke competing to find the toughest clue. Fitzpatrick went for another win after getting a head start in the October 9 episode. The other two players Robert Franke from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Colleen from Melrose, Massachusetts were far behind Mark before Final Jeopardy!
As had happened in a few previous episodes, all three players could not come up with the answer to the final round's clue. As per the popular notion on the internet, the clue for the final round of the October 9 episode was quite vague and tough, leading to all three players losing it.
However, Mark did not bet anything in the wager and lost zero money. Robert bet $130 and lost. The biggest shock was Colleen betting $5,600 and losing all of it.
The clue for the Final Jeopardy! October 9 episode read as follows:
"This word for one who cuts a trail comes from the name of a character in an 1840 novel.

October 9, 2024, Jeopardy!- Who won the episode and what was the answer to the final clue?
Mark Fitzpatrick, the three-time champion from Riverside returned for the fourth night to bet his best game. Along with him, Robert, the Data Analyst, and GIRL-BETWEEN-GIGS, Colleen Kelly compete head-to-head to win the October 9 episode.
The episode had a triple stumper after every round and Mark made the most out of it. He chose his categories in Double Jeopardy! wisely which helped him get Daily Doubles. After the two rounds ended, the show had Mark at $23,600, Robert at $6,200, and Colleen at $5,600.
The answer for the 'Word Origins' clue was:
"What is Pathfinder?"
All three players guessed wrong and the closest guess was 'Pioneer.' However, looking at the scores before the final round, it was clear that the winner was Mark Fitzpatrick, a 4-day champion who stood at a total of $81,600. Robert lost $130 in the wager and was left with $6,200. Unfortunately, Colleen bet all her $5,600 and was left with nothing.
Jeopardy! was created by Merv Griffin in 1964 and has been entertaining viewers for more than five decades. It reverses the conventional format of a quiz show and presents the clues in the form of answers. The show is running its 41st season, but is not available to rent, buy, or stream as it is run by Daily Syndication.
Viewers can watch Jeopardy! on their local channel as well as ABC.
