Jeopardy! champion Rishabh Wuppalati returned for another thrilling game on Friday, October 18, 2024. After a 3-day winning streak, Rishabh was back to make another win and was joined by the new players, Kyle Compton-Troesch, and Kelly Gates.

However, the Friday gameplay had some real rollercoaster moments for the returning champion and the new players where Kelly bagged the win in a nail-biting finish.

Jeopardy! goes all the way to 1964, when it was aired for the first time on NBC, on March 30, 1964. The show was the stem of Merv Griffin's mind, the same person credited for coming up with Wheel of Fortune.

The show is a reality TV quiz competition, where 3 players go through three rounds, to choose from the category given on the board and answer questions.

However, the clues and trivia are presented as answers, and players must formulate the correct questions. For Friday's episode, the Final Jeopardy! The clue category was "Literary Geography," and the clue reads:

"A N.Y. Times articles recognized Sands Point & Kings Point as the real “old-money” & “nouveau riche” settings in this novel."

Jeopardy! October 18, 2024: Final Jeopardy answer and winner

The October 18 episode of Jeopardy! was played out between the three-time champion and an Undergraduate student from the University of Pennsylvania, Kelly Gates, a Librarian from Medford, Massachusetts, and Kyle Compton, a Civil Engineer from Cincinnati, Ohio.

For Rishbah the stage was familiar, and after 3 consecutive wins, he appeared to have a knack for paying it smooth.

The Categories for the Jeopardy round were:

"Peak Experiences-Lighter Verse-Soccer In The USA-Exercising-Too Little-"OO" Late."

Ken started the round with Rishabh, who chose Peak Experiences as his first category and got lucky with Double Daily in his first move. He began with the lead by winning $1000 as his Daily Double.

Kelly and Kyle took their time to warm up but got hold of the round as it progressed. As the first round ended, Rishabh was leading with $6,400, Kelly stood in second place with $4000, and Kyle was third with $3,800.

For the second round, the categories were:

"19th Century Photos-Twinning-Twelve Letter Words-Biology-Choreographers-A Bit Of A Culture Shark."

Rishabh and Kyle went head-to-head with their 19th-century knowledge, showing a promising start. However, soon the boys were overpowered by Kelly's versatile knowledge across the board. She also got a Daily Double and capitalized it well. Kelly got the lead and did not stop until she finished the second round with glory.

Before entering the Final Jeopardy round, Kelly stood in first place with $13,200, followed by Rishabh who missed the lead and had $11,600. Kyle lagged far behind with only $5,800. It seemed impossible for Kyle to jump back, but it was an unconventional game, and things like that could happen.

Ken Jenning announced the category of the final round.'Literary Geography', and presented the trivia. All three players guessed the right answer. The right answer to the clue was:

"What is Great Gatsby?"

It was a heartbreaking round for Rishabh who just lost the game by $1 to Kelly. He could have been the winner for 4 consecutive days, but Kelly played it smart and wagered $10,001, making her the winner of the October 18 episode with a total of $23,201.
