Sherlock & Daughter Season 2 is still hanging on a thread, with no official confirmation as of yet. But if the increasing interest, solid fan ratings, and creative excitement are anything to look out for, then the odds are leaning in favor of a Season 2 possibly taking shape.
The show finished its first season on June 11, and while The CW hasn't made a decision yet, the creators are already flooding their minds with ideas.
So, what's with the hold-up? And what could Sherlock & Daughter Season 2 possibly look like? Let's get into everything we know so far.
Audience numbers are solid, and the creators are more than ready for a Sherlock & Daughter Season 2
The response to Sherlock & Daughter Season 1 has been anything but lukewarm. Pulling in over 850,000 weekly viewers in the U.S., the show has claimed the title of The CW's most-watched drama in recent times.
That's no small achievement, especially considering how many scripted shows The CW has cut off recently. With that kind of viewership, there's definitely a case to be made for a Season 2.
Speaking at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, screenwriter Shelly Goldstein shared how the writing process overflowed with ideas. She told Variety,
"They would just come popping out, and there were far too many for just eight episodes...If the fates are good to us, there are so many wonderful stories to be told with these characters."
Series creator Brendan Foley brought out the excitement, saying Season 2 could go global.
"Crime is blissfully international."
He said, pointing out that the 19th-century setting opens the door to plots that span across continents.
A growing global reach hints at what Season 2 could bring
Sherlock & Daughter Season 2 might still be pending, but its popularity isn't limited to the U.S. The show also streams on Max and has popped up on top rankings there. Beyond streaming, several international networks have already picked up broadcasting rights, including in Italy, Switzerland, Greece, and Canada.
That kind of early international traction gives the show a wider runway for renewal.
David Thewlis, who plays Sherlock Holmes, brings a different flavor to the character, stepping far from the versions we've seen in previous adaptations. Paired with Blu Hunt's Amelia, the duo's chemistry fuels more than just the plot and it drives the heart of the story.

Their journey through conspiracies, revelations, and strained family ties gave Season 1 its emotional core. That bond, and its potential to evolve, is a major reason fans are hoping for more.
And while the setting is placed in the past, the themes such as power, deception, and family still hit hard today. Foley admitted that adapting such an iconic character wasn't easy.
Adding that the challenge was to create something that felt both respectful and fresh, he said.
"There's always a percentage of the audience who'd be absolute purists..."
So far, they've managed to do just that.
Right now, there's no official confirmation from The CW about Sherlock & Daughter Season 2, but the signs point to something if not anything. From viewer numbers to international noise and eager creators, this mystery may not stay unsolved for far too long.
Fans just have to stay patient and maybe keep those magnifying glasses close for any further Sherlock & Daughter Season 2 updates.
