What We Do in the Shadows star Natasia Demetriou’s real-life pregnancy
Natasia Demetriou, more famously known for her role as Nadja, happens to be about a few months pregnant and was shooting What We Do in the Shadows Season 6.
In an interview with Vulture in April 2024, she spoke about using multiple props to hide her pregnancy behind the camera.
She joked,
“Carry a bucket, carry a box, put a pillow on your lap, stand behind a fruit bowl.”
This helped her to reprise her role in the flawless perfection of a scene with her baby bump camouflaged appropriately. During some episodes of the show, the fans noticed the sly use of objects in some scenes, which stirred more speculation among the fans.
Earlier What We Do in the Shadows seasons had reached a point where there were predictions that Demetriou might be pregnant due to her gain in weight, but no confirmation was made. This time, though, it was true that Demetriou was having her first child.
Another enigma is she appears to have kept her life out of the limelight, unavailable on social media. So, her fans can only talk about how she is doing, through social media forums like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit.
Nadja’s storyline in What We Do in the Shadows Season 6
Although in real life Natasia Demetriou is pregnant, Nadja does not have a pregnancy storyline in Season 6 of What We Do in the Shadows. Instead, the final season of What We Do in the Shadows has some staple hijinks from Staten Island's most eccentric vampire household.
The relationship with her husband, Laszlo, played by Matt Berry, remains the center of the show. Their passionate, turbulent relationship does not seem to have changed, nor has there been any allusion to children or pregnancy in the story.
It was clarified in an article by The Direct that despite what all fans had to say on this matter, Nadja is not pregnant on the show, and there seems to be no baby vampire in the cards for Nadja and Laszlo.
Instead, the season introduces new twists for other characters, like Guillermo's leaving the house and pursuit of a new career. Nadja's storyline continues in keeping with her richly evolved character: fiery, funny, and at times lethal.
