Irish Blood Episode 4 recap: Fiona's investigation takes a fatal turn, leading to a shocking death

In Irish Blood, Episode 4, Fiona is reunited with her mother, Mary. The episode introduces Father Al, a character tied to both Mary and Declan’s past. Father Al knew Mary and was also interested in her.

Elsewhere, Fiona tries to find out about a hard drive that the police and perhaps several other people are trying to find. However, this search leads to Fiona almost losing her mother. While she saves her mother, she loses another important person who was closer to her father, Declan.

Here’s what happened in Irish Blood Episode 4.

Irish Blood Episode 4 recap: Mary meets Father Al

In Episode 4 of Irish Blood, Mary comes to Ireland to take Fiona back to the US, as she has been risking her life while investigating her father’s death. As Fiona takes Mary to Declan's grave, her mother gets emotional.

Further, when she goes to meet Declan’s family, she encounters Father Al. Father Al quickly remembers Mary, as they had known each other from before. She asks him about becoming a priest, and he explains it was his way of atoning for his sins. He is also revealed to be running a charity school for underprivileged children in Togo.

Mary is pleased to see Father Al again, and when he asks her to take her to dinner, she agrees. Although Fiona’s grandmother, Isidora, asks her to be careful around the priest.


Irish Blood Episode 4 recap: Declan’s hard drive causes mayhem

While Mary and Fiona visit Declan’s grave in Irish Blood Episode 4, the sergeant comes with a warrant to search Declan’s home to look for a hard drive. They are informed that the hard drive contains bitcoins.

Later, Roisin gives back the hard drive, informing them that it did not contain any bitcoin, but just photos. Fiona is suspicious and tells Roisin that there might be another hard drive that they were searching for. However, neither Roisin nor Fiona could learn from the sergeant who else was searching for the hard drive.

This prompts Fiona to visit Minerva, whom she thinks might have the other hard drive. However, Minerva refuses and tells them that she does not have the hard drive. Before leaving, Fiona warns her that they are not the only ones who are looking for the hard drive, which in the end turns out to be true.


Irish Blood Episode 4 recap: Minerva is killed

While she looks at the photos in Declan’s hard drive in Irish Blood Episode 4, Fiona finds that with her and her mother’s photos, it also contains a photo of Father Al and Declan. She grows suspicious and asks Tess to look into Father Al.

After perusing through the internet, Tess calls Fiona and informs her about not finding the priest’s charity, and also sends her a snap of him being arrested for money laundering charges. Fiona quickly calls the priest and asks him to let her talk to her mother.

This prompts him to take his mask of being a good man off, and he tells her that when she brings him the hard drive, he will let her mother go. To save her mother, Fiona goes to Minerva again and pleads with her to give up that hard drive, but she still refuses.

In an attempt to save her mother, Fiona gives the hard drive with photos to the priest, and saves her mother. However, this angers Father Al, and he calls Fiona and threatens both her and her mother’s lives. At the end of the episode, Fiona is informed about Minerva’s death.
