Invasion Season 3, Episode 5, opened with the aftermath of the helicopter crash in the Dead Zone. Trevante and Mitsuki survived along with several soldiers, though the two pilots were killed on impact. The wreckage was cushioned by alien vines, preventing a complete disaster. Once on the ground, the team was attacked by hunter-killers.

Trevante froze as he was haunted by visions of Caspar on the mothership, while Mitsuki discovered that touching the vines allowed her to connect to the alien hivemind. She managed to stop one of the hunter-killers through this connection but collapsed afterward, forcing Nikhil to use a device he built to block the signals and stabilize her.

Meanwhile, Aneesha and Clark were taken to an Infinitas safehouse in Shadow Lake after escaping the FBI facility. Though welcomed, they wanted to leave immediately to reach their children in Idaho.

A phone call with Luke revealed his guilt over hiding alien messages he had received, sparking tension between Aneesha and Clark. Aneesha tried to escape but was caught by Marilyn Tanner, who instead offered to escort them to the nearest airbase.

At the WDC base, Hollander kept pushing forward with the mission despite suffering losses. Jamila overheard chatter about a new alien threat in the Dead Zone and insisted that the warning be shared. Hollander eventually agreed to allow Marilyn to use the airbase antenna to contact her scout.

Once inside the control room, Marilyn slit Hollander’s throat. Simultaneously, Infinitas forces hidden on rooftops opened fire, killing WDC soldiers. Joel, whom Jamila trusted, revealed himself to be part of the betrayal. Trevante managed to lead survivors onto a helicopter and escape, but the shard-bomb was destroyed in the ambush. Hollander’s death and Infinitas’ betrayal left the mission shattered.
