Inspector Ellis release details
Inspector Ellis premiered on October 31, 2024, on Channel 5 at 8 pm. The rest of the two episodes will have weekly releases.

Inspector Ellis plot
Inspector Ellis follows DCI Ellis, who, per the official synopsis, is a black female cop who is used to being overlooked and dismissed.
The official synopsis further mentions,
“But [she] remains focused on her work as a first-class murder detective, fueled by a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it.”
Each of the show's three episodes is around 90 minutes long and follows Ellis and Harper as they arrive at a police station to take up a seemingly unsolvable case.
The first episode synopsis reads,
“When 18-year-old Rowan Edwards is found dead, DCI Ellis is called on by ACC Alison Leighton to take over the investigation. Rowan’s girlfriend Maggie has not been seen since Rowan’s death, and they need results fast.”
It further mentions that Rowan’s mother is an ex-MP and has little faith in the abilities of the local force. However, the senior investigative officer working on the case is quite sure that he has found the murderer and is severely unimpressed when he gets shunted off the case.
The synopsis further states,
“He assigns DS Chet Harper to keep an eye on Ellis, not trusting her at all. Ellis starts to dig under the surface of the town and soon sees that in Hanmore, parents know nothing about the lives of their children.”
In only three episodes, Inspector Ellis presents a tight narrative and a tension-filled storyline.
Who is in the Inspector Ellis cast?
Sharon D Clarke stars as DCI Ellis, the show's titular character. She is a famous British actress who has previously starred in projects on stage and screen. Her notable projects include Holby City, Red, White and Royal Blue, Mr Loverman, Doctor Who, etc.
Andrew Gower stars as DS Chet Harper, Ellis’ right hand. Gower has also starred in various projects before Inspector Ellis. His previous projects include Being Human, Monroe, Miss Scarlet and The Duke, The Winter King, Carnival Row, Black Mirror, etc.
