In the Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 trailer, Kevin Costner has a scene that wraps up his character in the show. John Dutton will not return, and that particular scene is arguably the final one for his character. This change in the cast is made as Costner left after the first part of the fifth season, partly to concentrate on his Horizon film saga.
Yellowstone follows the story of the Dutton family, owners of the largest cattle ranch in America. The show just can't get away from him, and the question now is how to move on in the season 5, part 2 finale. There is only so much the writers can do for John without John. Only time will tell if Beth and the rest of the Duttons can free themselves from John and hopefully go their way.
