It was a big night for The Pitt at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, bagging several nominations and awards at the same time. The show follows Noah Wyle's Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch and his colleagues as they navigate through the various challenges and hardships faced by healthcare workers on a daily basis in America.

When the show hit HBO Max back in January this year, the idea for a second season for the show was a no-brainer. However, fans went one step ahead and suggested that there should be spinoff shows made for The Pitt. One of the leading ideas at the forefront was that of a Night Shift show, especially so that Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbott could get more screen time.

However, after the Emmy awards, HBO Max head Casey Bloys opened up about the idea, and the answer might not be what fans wanted to hear.

HBO Max will not be entertaining fans' idea for any spinoff shows of The Pitt

After the Emmy awards, Casey Bloys revealed to Variety in an interview that while there will be other shows like The Pitt in the future, there will definitely be no spin-offs for the show.

"No! Listen, when we decided to move forward with The Pitt, the idea was that we’re going to develop other shows in this model. They don’t have to be a spin-off. But that model, I think, The Pitt showed that it could work for us."

Bloys elaborated on the format and model of The Pitt, which can be replicated, but denied the possibility of a spin-off.

"So, we’ve been developing other types of shows: a cop show, a family show, etc. We will be developing those and trying to do it again. But as I’ve said, The Pitt is lightning in a bottle. So the idea that we’re going to do another one, that it’s going to work out, you never know. But it did prove that the model could work in streaming."

While this is definitely unfortunate news for fans, they can still expect to see more of Noah Wyle's Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch, since the HBO Max show has already been renewed for Season 2.

The Pitt Season 2 will see many of the leading actors reprising their roles in the show. In addition, much to fans' delight, Dr. Jack Abbott is set to appear in a much larger role in the upcoming season.

When asked about Season 2 of The Pitt, Bloys stated,

"I would say, from my point of view, they haven’t missed a beat. It’s what you want a second season to do. The producers know what the show is. The actors have all settled in, so haven’t missed a beat, and everything is kind of smooth sailing."

Season 2 is scheduled to be released on January 8 on HBO MAX.
