Jean Smart added a fourth Emmy to her collection for her work on HBO’s comedy series Hacks at the Emmys 2025. The actress, who plays legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian Deborah Vance in the show, has previously won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

This second consecutive win for Jean Smart at the Emmys 2025 is certainly special for the actress, as Hacks was earlier renewed for a fifth season. Hacks' showrunners and creators, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, announced this renewal news, which made their comedy series the longest-running live-action show in the network's history.
In addition to Smart, Hacks also stars Hannah Einbinder as Ava Daniels, a struggling comedy writer who crosses paths with Deborah. The comedy series explores the volatile relationship between the two women as they struggle to stay afloat in a male-centric industry.
Hacks wrapped its fourth season in May 2025, which saw Deborah finally realize her dream to host a late-night talk show. While Ava became her head writer, the two women continued to have a complicated relationship.
