Jean Smart added a fourth Emmy to her collection for her work on HBO’s comedy series Hacks at the Emmys 2025. The actress, who plays legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian Deborah Vance in the show, has previously won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
Proving that she is here to stay, Smart won the shining trophy again, marking the seventh Emmy Award of her professional career. The actress was nominated alongside Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), and Uzo Aduba (The Residence).
Emmys 2025 are currently being held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California. You can either watch it on CBS or stream it live on Paramount+ or the CBS app.
Emmys 2025: Jean Smart bags her fourth Emmy for Hacks
Before her big win at the Emmys 2025, Jean Smart arrived in a bespoke emerald green turtleneck gown with ruffled sleeves. The actress made an elegant fashion statement on the red carpet, proving that Deborah Vance always dresses to win. To complete the look, Smart also added a matching clutch and accessorized her look with stacked necklaces. With minimal earrings, Jean Smart let the gown do the talking, which made her look elegant while she made her acceptance speech on stage.
Jean Smart graciously accepted her fourth award for Hacks at the Emmys 2025, with a heartwarming speech:
“One of the best things about winning something like this is you get to publicly thank the people you work with.''
Smart also thanked her 'unbelievable' cast & crew and 'beyond brilliant' showrunners. She ended her thanking streak by giving a shoutout to her children, whom she called her anchor. Ending her Emmys 2025 acceptance speech, Jean Smart gave an important message:
“Let’s be good to each other.''
This second consecutive win for Jean Smart at the Emmys 2025 is certainly special for the actress, as Hacks was earlier renewed for a fifth season. Hacks' showrunners and creators, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, announced this renewal news, which made their comedy series the longest-running live-action show in the network's history.
In addition to Smart, Hacks also stars Hannah Einbinder as Ava Daniels, a struggling comedy writer who crosses paths with Deborah. The comedy series explores the volatile relationship between the two women as they struggle to stay afloat in a male-centric industry.
Hacks wrapped its fourth season in May 2025, which saw Deborah finally realize her dream to host a late-night talk show. While Ava became her head writer, the two women continued to have a complicated relationship.
The Emmys 2025 have officially kick-started the awards season for 2025-26. The nominations for the ceremony took place on July 15, 2025, and were hosted by the powerhouse duo of actor Harvey Guillén and actress Brenda Song. Apple TV+’s Severance continued its success streak and became the most-nominated TV series with 27 nods.
However, it was another Apple TV freshman that turned the most heads, even tying the record set by The Bear in 2024. Seth Rogen’s freshman satirical comedy series The Studio became the talk of the town at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, bagging 23 nominations in total, including outstanding comedy series.
Seth Rogen finally nabbed his first Emmy for lead actor (The Studio).
