The recent two-part episodes 5 and 6 of Grotesquerie ended with a bang. Lois shoots someone who might be the serial killer behind all the gruesome events. But of course, we won’t find out who the person is until the next episode.
However, there is some speculation that Father Charlie is the killer but viewers will need to wait for the next few episodes to drop for a confirmation.
So, how did we get to this intense showdown? Let’s rewind and break down Episodes 5 and 6 in a simpler way.
Set in a creepy, unsettling universe, Grotesquerie follows the story of a brutal serial killer whose gruesome crimes leave a trail of blood and terror. The show explores dark themes, including cults, twisted relationships, and religious obsession, all while building an intense mystery around the identity of the killer.
Episode 5 recap of Grotesquerie
Lois, Sister Megan, and a hitchhiker named Andrea take refuge in a shady motel. But things quickly spiral into chaos. The owner is abusing the girls working at the motel, and when Megan tries to save one of them, she gets caught in the crossfire and dies in Lois' arms.
Father Charlie, who has a secret romantic relationship with Megan, rushes to her hospital bed with her favorite flowers.
Meanwhile, Megan avoids seeing a brutal crime. The killer attacks a maternity house, and several pregnant women die as their babies are ripped from their wombs. The killer leaves a blood-chilling message for Detective Tryon, taunting her to follow.
At a creepy factory where women are held hostage and abused, Lois comes face-to-face with the killer. She manages to escape by shooting the attacker in the chest, but who the attacker is, we’re left wondering.
Episode 6 recap
Episode 6 kicks off right where episode 5 left off. Lois is still trying to figure out who the person behind the mask is and if it could be Father Charlie or even someone closer to her. The episode begins with a thrilling, continuous shot that shows Lois and Megan picking up Andrea and heading to the motel.
Things immediately go wrong when they arrive. A car crashes in the parking lot, and Megan gets shot while trying to save Andrea from getting kidnapped again. Megan ends up in the hospital, and Father Charlie shows up to visit her again. But he’s mad at Lois, blaming her for Megan’s injuries.
Lois tries to defend herself, saying that Megan is out there risking her life because of his religious writings. Lois bumps into Detective Hanover, who’s been looking into Lois’ old cases. One name jumps out Glorious, a killer recently released from jail.
With Lois out of town, the killer takes advantage and attacks a maternity house. The FBI steps in, but Lois refuses to back down. The killer is specifically targeting her, and she’s determined to catch him.
Following a lead, Lois finds a car filled with bloody towels, leading her to a woman holding a baby. The woman, named Maisie, isn’t the mother of the child. Maisie drops cryptic hints, repeatedly mentioning the word “Glorious.”
Lois tracks down Glorious, a former pimp turned religious leader. Glorious claims to know who the killer is, calling him a false prophet. She hints that the murderer might be part of a cult, and sends Maisie to Lois for protection.
Later that night, Nurse Redd who has been obsessively fixated on Lois’ husband, Marshall shows up at Lois’ house with a bottle of vodka, seemingly to make peace. She admits to having had an affair with Marshall during his coma. In a surprising twist, Lois pulls a gun on Redd and tells her to stay away.
Who might the killer be?
Lois presses Maisie for more information, and they head to an old milk bottling factory. What they find there is beyond horrifying where women have been forcibly hooked up to machines to extract milk and feed stolen babies.
In a back room, Lois finds a wall filled with photos of herself, indicating that the killer has been stalking her for a long time. Before she can process this, someone sneaks up behind her and holds a knife to her throat. However, Lois quickly turns the tables and shoots the attacker.
Just when we think we’re about to find out who the killer is, the credits roll before Lois removes the mask. Many fans are guessing that Father Charlie is the killer, but there could be more surprises in store. Maisie did mention that the killer has a bigger plan for Lois, so maybe there’s more to the story.
