The Apple TV show Foundation has released a brand-new teaser and first-look images for the third season of the epic drama. The sci-fi drama based on Isaac Asimov's novels has a major time jump and new cast members in store for its third season.
The teaser revealed that the show will be returning to our screens on July 11, 2025, after a two-year break since the second season. It has been a slightly longer-than-usual production cycle for the show, owing to the Hollywood 2023 strikes as well as some reported budgetary concerns. We will be reuniting with the characters 152 years after the events of the second season, so it will be extremely exciting to uncover the ways in which the characters and the show have changed.
Here's everything we know about the Foundation Season 3 release.
Foundation Season 3: Release date news, time, streaming details, and more
The first teaser for the epic saga revealed that Season 3 will debut globally on Apple TV+ on July 11, 2025, with the first episode. The rest of the episodes are set to premiere every Friday through September 12, 2025.
Storyteller David S. Goyer will be returning with the Emmy Award-nominated Lee Pace and Jared Harris as Brother Day and Hari Seldon, along with actors Lou Llobell, Cassian Bilton, Laura Birn, Rowena King, and Terrence Mann in this 10-episode-long season of Foundation.
New actors are also joining the galactic alliances, namely Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones (Succession) and Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur, along with Synnøve Karlsen, Brandon P. Bell, Tómas Lemarquis, Cody Fern, Alexander Siddig, and Pilou Asbæk. Pilou Asbæk will be joining the cast list as The Mule, a warlord set on ruling the entire universe using mind control, physical and military force, taking over from Mikael Persbrandt's The Mule in Foundation Season 2.
The official synopsis of the third season reads:
Set 152 years after the events of season two, The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule,” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.
David S. Goyer is joined by Bill Bost as the executive producer for Foundation Season 3, along with Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, Robyn Asimov, Matt Thunell, Christopher J. Byrne, David Kob, Jane Espenson, Roxann Dawson, and Leigh Dana Jackson.
