A police procedural drama, FBI: International is a series from the FBI franchise and is one of the spin-offs of FBI. The plot of the series revolves around special agents from the FBI. The show follows the special agents as they investigate and tackle international terrorism and crime.

The fifth episode of season four of FBI: International is titled "The Future's Looking Bright." This episode explores the horrors of online dating. In this episode, the team arrives in Poland to investigate the kidnapping of Gilbert Shrader.
Recently retired and widowed, Gilber Sharader is an American citizen who begins a relationship with a woman named Natalya, whom he meets on a dating website. The dating website they meet on supposedly is made to introduce Western men to Eastern European women.
Thinking it's just a regular dating website, Gilbert does not realize the site is a scam operation called Passport Bros. The scammers behind this are known to lure in vulnerable men under the false pretense of companionship. When these men fall for their trap, the scammers obtain their personal information and money.
As Gilbert and Natalya meet, they are kidnapped in Poland. Led by Agent Wesley Mitchell, the Fly Team begins to uncover the heinous crimes the scammers are behind. As they investigate, the agents realize the scammers operate from a parking lot, and they treat the women involved merely as collateral.
The team realizes the ringmaster behind these crimes is Bartek. The agents find evidence detailing the scammer's victims and crimes but fail to find Gilbert's name. They quickly realize the scammer has something even more sinister in mind for Gilbert.
Their suspicions are confirmed when the daughter of Gilbert, who is a millionaire, receives a call for a hefty ransom of ten million dollars. The episode brings its audience to the edge of their seat when Agent Mitchell goes undercover as an American man looking for companionship.
While undercover, he meets Natalya, who tells him all about the scammers. She informs them the scammers had first decided to kidnap Natalya with Gilbert as a witness of the crime. The plan was derailed when Gilbert was kidnapped by Bartek, as the latter wanted to extort a ransom out of Gilbert.
During their investigation, the agents stumble across a man named Larry Holbrook, who was robbed of his money and identity when he was lured to Poland under the ruse of helping a woman.
The episode gets intense when the team finds out about Bartek's whereabouts. In a high-stakes rescue operation, the team successfully rescues Gilbert and another hostage named Keith Edmonds. Audiences see both hostages safely return to their families.
