In the CBS series, Holmes, who now lives in New York after his drug rehabilitation and works with the NYPD as a consultant in various criminal cases. The cast of Elementary includes Jonny Lee Miller, Aidan Quinn, and Lucy Liu, among various other popular actors.

1) Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes

Miller plays Holmes in Elementary. He is a recovering drug addict who begins working with the NYPD as a consulting detective. The CBS series includes several canon narratives of Sherlock's life in the series, such as his companionship with Watson, his complex relationship with his father, and the conflict with Moriarty.

The English actor has appeared in Netflix's popular historical drama, The Crown. Along with this, he is also known for appearing in Crime drama, Dexter, as Jordan Chase and Eli Stone, among other TV shows.

2) Aidan Quinn as Captain Thomas Gregson

Aidan Quinn plays Captain Tommy Gregson in the CBS series. He leads the precinct for which Holmes works as a consultant and knows him for Sherlock's intelligence while he worked at Scotland Yard. While they respect each other, they often find themselves arguing due to Sherlock's lack of consideration for police laws while investigating.

The Irish-American actor was previously seen in Blue Bloods, The American Guest, The Book of Daniel, and Law & Order: SVU, among several other TV shows.

3) Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson

Lucy Liu's character, Joan Watson, was a surgeon who left her medical career and later became a "sober companion" for Sherlock after his father hired her. She helped him stay away from drugs after his rehab was completed. Gradually, her role in Sherlock's life became crucial as she helped him in dealing with his addiction and also provided input in his investigations.

The American actress is most commonly known for playing Alex Munday in Charlie's Angels. She has also appeared in Kill Bill and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. His TV show roles include Ally McBeal, A Man in Full, and Southland.

4) Jon Michael Hill as Marcus Bell

Jon Michael Hill plays Marcus Bell in CBS's Elementary. Initially, he doubts Sherlock's exceptional abilities but gradually comes around after working with him and Watson several times. He is also one of the only detectives with whom Sherlock prefers to work.

Hill is also popularly known for another detective role in ABC's Detroit 1-8-7 where he played Damon Washington. He has also appeared in A Man in Full and The Good Fight.

5) Nelsan Ellis as Shinwell Johnson

Another canon character from the novels that is part of the series was Shinwell Johnson, who was played by Nelsan Ellis. He is a former convict who also worked as an FBI informant and helped Sherlock in his cases before his death.

Ellis gained attention for playing the character of Lafayette Reynolds in HBO's horror series True Blood. He also appeared in The Inside and Veronica Mars.

6) John Noble as Morland Holmes

John Noble plays Morland in the CBS procedural comedy-drama series. He is Sherlock's father, whom he does not like at all. He joined the cast in Season 4 after Shelrock relapses at the end of Season 3. While Sherlock had a complicated relationship with Morland, the latter still tried to help protect his son in Season 4.

The Australian actor is known for appearing in The Boys, Severance, Sleepy Hollow, and Legends of Tomorrow, among various other TV shows.
