“One shot makes you hot,” that's how the teaser for Ryan Murphy's The Beauty describes the super-drug that is raising the stakes of vanity and beauty. The show follows the mysterious death of models under a transmitted drug used to make yourself appear more beautiful. The only catch is that it comes with deadly consequences, showing the dark price of physical perfection.

In the teaser, a voiceover introduces the characters and says,

“Imagine: A revolutionary new super-drug that makes any old face drop dead gorgeous. And everybody wants it. A big pharma billionaire (Ashton Kutcher), with serious assets; two agents undercover (Rebecca Hall and Eva Peters), and between the sheets; a one-eyed wonder (Anthony Ramos), who survived a dirty dose; a psycho incel (Jeremy Pope), with a thirst for kink; and a favored bombshell (Bella Hadid), ready to explode.”

The series is created and written by Murphy and Matt Hodgson, with Murphy once again assembling a massive creative bench. Peters, Ramos, and Pope also serve as executive producers, alongside Murphy regulars and industry veterans. The show is produced by 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Productions, with Mac Quayle composing the score. Filming began in December 2024 in New York City, with additional shoots across the region through early 2025.

The Beauty is shaping up to be one of the boldest genre swings on television in 2026, blending glossy fashion culture with science fiction body horror and a distinctly Murphy sized ensemble.

Set against the worlds of high fashion and global power, The Beauty imagines a near future where international supermodels begin dying in gruesome, unexplained ways. At the center are FBI agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett, played by Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall, sent to Paris to investigate what looks like a string of impossible crimes. What they uncover is a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, only to kill them later.

The synopsis further describes how Kutcher's The Corporation is behind the drug, who employs Anthony Ramos' The Assassin to fight the agents, desperate to protect his billion dollar empire. The show raises important, ethical questions about the standards of beauty and how far one would go to achieve their dreamy, perfect appearance.

In an interview with Variety, the creator talked about The Beauty and said,

“It’s something I’ve never done before...And the question is, how far would you go to be beautiful? What would you sacrifice to that, and does that matter? That show was looking at, I call it the Ozempic culture. One little shot, and suddenly you’re going to look better and feel better, and all your problems are going to go away. But what are you really working on? What’s going on with you that you feel you need to do that? Sometimes it is health, sometimes it’s vanity.”

Beyond its main cast, The Beauty leans heavily into spectacle with an eye catching guest list that includes Bella Hadid, Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, Meghan Trainor, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Vincent D’Onofrio, Peter Gallagher, Isabella Rossellini, and several others.

FX will premiere The Beauty on January 21, 2026.
