Doctor Odyssey Episode 12, titled Sophisticated Ladies drops a major shocker that no one saw coming. Elswehere, the already existing tension between Avery, Max, and Tristan continues to grow as Tristan tries his best to prove himself worthy as a father of the child that Avery is carrying.

Captain Massey learns that he is going to be a father in Doctor Odyssey Episode 12

Sophisticated Ladies brought back Heather, the widow who was a former partner of Captain Massey. Heather’s return essentially leads to some intimate moments between the two, and the consequence shocks everyone.

Heather announces that she is pregnant and despite being close to menopause her body has somehow pulled off a miracle to let this happen. Avery seems to be rather skeptical upon hearing the news and her reaction is justified given Heather’s age. However, the nurse on board conducts a number of tests that would hint at anything else other than a pregnancy based on the symptoms she is showing but the tests only confirm this news.

While the pregnancy understandably surprises Captain Massey, he takes it rather well and assures Heather that he would be with her in this journey and they will deal with everything together. When Heather gets scared as she gets some spotting and goes for a checkup, Captain Massey goes with her showing that he meant what he said.

Massey’s actions show that he is genuinely keen on becoming a father, and he also mentions that he wants to be present as a parent. This might hint at him having to leave the deck soon for obvious reasons, but nothing was mentioned about the same in episode 12.

Tristan continues his efforts to prove himself to Avery in Doctor Odyssey Episode 12

While Heather’s pregnancy announcement was shocking enough, the first such pregnancy reveal was that of Avery’s, and no further update on who could be the father of her child was provided in this episode.

However, that did not stop Tristan from trying to prove his worth to Avery. While both Max and he had initially not taken the news in the best possible way, things have changed since then, and this episode sees Tristan going above and beyond to show Avery that he can be a good father to the child she is carrying.

Avery however, did not seem to show any significant change in attitude towards him and rather some shifting dynamics was noticed between the two characters. Moreover, addition of a special kind of a passenger and the caretaking of a terminally ill patient made Avery’s pregnancy storyline take a backseat, though it was not completely ignored.
