Looks like Bryan Cranston has just won another Emmy for his role in The Studio. If you remember, the Breaking Bad actor played the role of Continental CEO Griffin Mill. While the award will be televised on Sunday, September 14, 2025, it looks like we already know who is winning the award in the guest role category, thanks to a report published on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Bryan Cranston addressed his Emmy win for The Studio during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, September 11, 2025. This is where Cranston revealed something interesting when asked about his latest Emmy win. Turns out, he was not even present at the event because the actor was in Minnesota for a wedding. Cranston said:
"They [organizers] tell me it was Saturday. I was at a wedding in Minnesota, at Lizzie and Lucas's wedding. Hi guys... [waves at the camera]... and we were celebrating that and that's been planned for a long time. And so the bride's mom, Callen, came over and said, "You won." And at first I looked down at my plate and I said, "Taking the most food or... and and she said, "No." And I it left my mind. mind. And so and I got to say that this wasn't televised, was it?"
When Kimmel answered that the event was yet to be televised, Cranston asked if he really won. This is when they held a mock award, in which Kimmel announced the nominations and handed Bryan Cranston his Emmy.
Bryan Cranston's role in The Studio explained:
Mill is introduced in the first episode of The Studio as the Continental CEO. Bryan Cranston's character in the show is one of the biggest sources of satire in the series because he is a stereotypical power-hungry Hollywood executive. His only goal is to make money, and he doesn't care about his employees' health and wellness. Simply put, he is someone who is given credit for someone else's labor.
He is a thorn in Seth Rogen's character, Matt Remick, throughout the entirety of the series. Despite being the studio head, he still has to answer to Griffin Mill, who favors IP-based projects, which contrasts Remick's desire to produce movies with fresh and original ideas. Cranston himself revealed the inspiration behind his portrayal of Mill as The Godfather producer, Robert Evans.
Cranston cited Robert Evans' book The Kid Stays in the Picture as inspiration for his character. Cranston pointed towards a chapter describing him trying to impress a beautiful woman and revealed that it was an inspiration for this sleazy character. Fans are hopeful to see more of Griffin Mill in the second season.
"In “The Studio,” Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their never-ending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him."
The entire first season of the acclaimed Hollywood satire is available to stream on Apple+.
